Piorun Meridian 900 and YS110?
I purchased this NIB plane from a fellow club member last weekend and I am making a shopping list. Anyone have insight as to if a YS110 will pull this plane? It was designed for a 120. I realize the 140Sport is the 120 replacement, but if I go that route, I'll just put a 140DZ in it so I have a backup engine for my 2M. But, I'd hate to dump Dingo dough into it if a 110 would work. I'll probably be flying Advanced so please consider that pattern as to any suggestions. Thanks in advance for any advice.

The ys 110 would be a great motor in that airframe. I have flown mine with a ys 91 ac worked great. I had the lite versions with honey combed wings.

RE: Piorun Meridian 900 and YS110?
To all: Maybe the meridian 900 was designed for the 91... I really don't know. That is why I am asking. However, the plans clearly show a YS120 (it is labeled) and the DBest site indicates a 120 engine for use with the M900. I figured a new YS110 might pull like an older YS120, so that is why I asked. The plane claims to build out to ~8-9 lbs. I do not have the honeycomb version but I can honeycomb the wings fairly easily in an evening. Knowing how I build, better figure on the 9lbs anyway. Seems like the consensus is YS110 will work just fine. Drat.... I really wanted another Dingo. Thanks all.

RE: Piorun Meridian 900 and YS110?
I have flown a meridian 900 with a YS 91, a YS 120SC 120NC 120Std all 4 gave unlimited vertical but then again I live at sea level. My last one was orginally Rick Allision's and about 6 years old and many, many flights on it. It definitely was a great flying airplane. One of the biggest reasons that 120's where put in them was for the vertical at higher elevations (i think). Matter of fact I have a Kit that is just collection dust if you want a spare, there has been very little work done on it and I would let it go for a steal.

vfr_rider: Thanks for the offer. My primary plane is a PL Products Excellence. I mainly purchased the Meridian as a backup in case something happens to the Excellence. I doubt (hope) I won't need a backup to my backup. But maybe someone else would be interested.

RE: Piorun Meridian 900 and YS110?
I just checked out the meridian 900 on the web for the first time. Looks awesome. Would an OS 91 4-stroke be enough for this plane. I'm not fimiliar with YS and there power compared to OS plus I have a 91 sitting in my shop
Thanks, Kcflyer

You would be fine iwth yoru OS, however you won't have the vertical that the YS provides. IMO
