you will need a Y connector, but set up is pretty much straight forward, use this set on most of the pattern planes I built

vasek - the first thing to decide is "how important is ABSOLUTE centering, AND control over travels for EACH servo".... If you want "pattern quality" dual-servo setups, you will have to install the servos such that the MECHANICAL 'neutrals', pushrod lengths, and control takeoffs at the elevator are as nearly-identical as you can get them.
Then, you will need one of those "multiple servo" electronic wizardry deals...I'm only familiar with the JR version, and it permits you to set centers, direction of travel, and total travel in both directions. Once set, THEN you do the rest of the setup from the Tx.

Elevators that don't have exactly the same centers, aren't aligned, and travel different directions can give you frustrations and headaches that you will NOT be happy about.

Were I in your position, with the radio you describe, I'd add the JR gizmo in a heartbeat.

Here's an article on my website, although pertaining to the JR 10X, the mechanical advice is sound. [link=http://www.rcaerobats.net/DualElev.htm]Elevator Setup[/link]

Bob, your article is very informative, thanks!!!!!!

The precision i am looking for is not as critical as in a pattern plane, it's for a scale Reno- Racer. However, it would be nice to have as close to identical surface control as possible. The mechanical aspect is well explained in your article, but the centering of the servos itself leaves me with some unanswered questions.

Could you elaborate on the JR gizmo think please? (and maybe a link to the gizmo in question in a online shop?)

thanks for your help,
Vasek

Here's the Horizon (JR in the US) link for the "Matchbox".

It is very popular for those larger airplanes with multiple servos on ailerons, etc. Also used for those whose Tx won't do multiple servo setups. Hope this helps!

My opinion is... forget that Futaba even makes the 3003. Pay about $3 more per servo and get the 3004 instead. The ball bearing can reduce the slop in the control system a TON! Even if you want the least expensive servo for an introductory Patern plane. Make sure its a ball bearing servo.

If you already have the 3003's... you can get the EMS ball bearing kit set for the 148. You get a stronger case top and the ball bearing and a glass-filled nylon servo arm for $5 a servo. (comes in a package of for kits for $20) I found out about this when looking to repair sone 148's that had busted off mount lugs... the kits cost the same per servo as replacement cases... and I tried one on a 3003 because it looked like it would fit... (perfect fit. [8D] )

Very soon, I will have no "standard" servos without ball bearing output. They ARE that much better.

********************

If going for a .91 4-stroke powered or larger plane... its time to start thinking about better servos than the 3004 or 148. If you are going to be flying in classes above Intermediate... you definitely want more precision... and possibly need more servo power.

Hubert, the $ 20- (4) 3004 upgrade kit sounds like a VERY good idea.

Can you post a link to where i can order one?

Thanks in advance,
Vasek
