Default Dingo questions

I have a few questions for you guys running the ys 140dz. First, how big of a fuel tank does it need. Second, what kind of tank works best, the tetra, or a "normal" tank with the foam clunk. Any other comments on running this engine are welcome.

Default RE: Dingo questions

I use a 20oz tettra...but it is not the bladder style...a Dubro 20oz with the foam clunk will work.
I choose the Tettra tanks because they are a better quality tank. The stopper setup and the molded tank are a bit nicer on the Tettra. This is a preference thing...basically as long as the tank doesn't leak its fine. I have never had a Tettra fail, leak or split. The stopper setup is in my opinion superior to other tanks on the market.

Since the DZ no longer has the pressure system the foam clunk prevents the air bubbles from getting in the feed line. I have run a motor on a regular clunk and it works fine....the only problem is sometimes a gulp of air hits the feed line and motor surges, and could die. There is nothing special about the foam clunk...OS makes a bubbless clunk for about $20. The foam one is cheaper and works just as well. I tend to replace the clunk after about a year of flying. I have not much experience with the newer clunks...they are a more substantial foam that the original gray foamies...the new ones are white in color. I'm using one now but the model tank and setup only has about 30 flights on it. I can't tell the difference.

I'm getting about 12-14mins on the 140 DZ slightly less run time on the 160DZ...Its about 12mins.

The run time you get is a little dependant on the fuel and prop you are using. I run the Cool Power 30% Heli fuel. It works very well. Some choose to run less nitro and I know it works I have done it...But the 30% gives better consistency and control.

Plus the motor runs really well on this fuel. I have 3 140DZ's that have over 500 flights each all with the 30% heli fuel through them.

I would pretty much agree with Troy, although my tank runs dry after 9-10 minutes. Guess I must be a bit harder on the throttle! Coolpower 30 and a 16x12 prop, tank is a tettra 20oz.

Contrary to some reports, using the supplied foam clunk you can get through a whole tankful. If it gets really low it will hesitate briefly, as if to say - land me now! I certainly don't feel the need for a header tank.

Agree with above except am using the 24oz tetra tank and get less time than the above guys but my throttle management is still a work in progress and previous planes didn't like flying slow, so why bother with throttle management on them.

Did use a 24oz dubro tank without any problem on last plane.
