Hey guys,
I've only flown profiles for power and would like to try a pattern plane.
I am acomplished 3-D pilot, or above average, to let you know where I'm skill wise.
I have a Saito .72 and a O.S. .91fx for motors.
I know the bigger planes fly so much better, but was thinking of trying a Cermark Javelin 2
which is the .40 size.
Would I be disapointed in the .40 size, or would something for the .91 be so much better ?
For the .90 I was thinking of the Widebody 60, or is there any other good ARF's to consider?
Where is the best place to get a Javelin?
Apprecite any help, thanks.

The bigger, the better. That's the short answer. You won't be "sorry" about a good 40 sized plane, but you'll definitely be happier with a 60-90 size.

Javelin is from Cermark, and is an excellent first pattern plane, nice long tail moment for great pitch stability. It's nominally a .40 size, but your Saito .72 would pull it well enough. Better results would be with a light .60-.75 2-stroke. Pretty good bargain at $170 or so. My pattern coach flew his Javelin to overall second place Intermediate for the season in our district a few years back. He now flies Master class, but still loves his Javelin for practice & demo's.
Mike is right, bigger is better. The two hot .90 size planes are the Widebody .60 and the JR Explorer 90. The Excelleron, a knock-off of the hard-to-find Explorer, is now back in stock @ $280 from Hobby People.

Thanks guys for the help.
Is the Saito .72 not BEST choice for a .40 size ?
If not, sounds like the Widebody 60 & the Excelleron with be great choice with my .90
Would one of these be better than the other. I really don't want to get into retracts, does the
Widebody 60 have retracts?
Thanks,

I have a Widebody 60 with an OS 91FX in it. It is an excellent combination, and flies very much like my 2 meter pattern plane. If you don't want to buy a full 2 meter plane, I would choose the Widebody 60.
