Hi All,
I'd like to find out which tach (digital or analog) you guys are using. I have just gone through my second GloBee and want to get something more reliable. I know that the TNC tach is very good and SHOULD HAVE got one when they were available through PowerFLite.....but alas, PowerFlite is no more! If anybody knows where to get a TNC, PLEASE let us know. In the meantime, I have tried GloBees, Hobbiecos, Graupners (something I bought in Switzerland in the early 90's)....all were (are) not very reliable, i.e. inconsitent readings depending on distance and angle......or just went South on me for no reason[:@]
I do have two tachs that I protect like gold...these are two of the original Royal ProTachs from several decades ago....you remember, when we were turning Rossi or OPS .61's at 15Krpms +
I absolutely love these for tuning.....just watch the analog needle as you lean and you can watch the needle reading peak and then back off a bit...a bit like watching the EGT when leaning a full-scale on run-up. However, while the ProTachs do really nicely for relative rpm readings they are not great for an absolute number....like the TNC digital.
So, any recommendations for a good, reliable digital tach? Like I said, if you know where to find a TNC these days, then by all means speak up!
Thanks guys!
Erik
