Hi all again,
I would like to send another picture of my IMPULSE...
Now I want to built an electric version of it... I am planning to use direct drive Plettenberg motor and 2 sets of 5S3P Li-Po batteries...
I think it will fly less then 4800 - 4850 grams weight ( depends on my calculations
)
happy landings

To those of you who have been following this thread and have a few questions, I wanted to let you know that I will be receiving a couple of the Impulse F3A from Baris at BN Models very soon. Once received, I will be able to offer you very quickly some comparisons in regards to quality of workmanship and flight performance. I will be posting some up close and detailed pictures along with construction information. I will be able to make direct comparisons to PL Products, CA Models, Composite ARF Impact and a few other airframes currently available at Pattern Proz. Along with myself, I have a few very talented fliers such as Bill Cunningham several time USA F3A team member and TOC competitor, Bill Ahrens who is an exceptional FAI flyer and Dan Curtis who also competes in FAI out of Springfield, MO who will be involved with some of the initial flight testing.
As the US Importer I am happy to offer this exciting, value packed model to the pattern community, as a flyer / competitor I can't wait to get one in the air. I figure there is a reason UAV - Oscar has such a big smile on his face in some of the pictures above.
Enough for now, I hope to post more info soon, if you have questions feel free to ask and I will be sure to reply.

I would still like to hear and in depth flying report on this bird. What are it's tendancies -- any mix used -- how does it handle wind????????

Hi tph1,
We didnt send any Impulse to USA.
We have some sales in Europe.
We have chosen to make Russell Honea -www.patternproz.com- the exclusive US distributor of BN Models.
As soon as he will get some Impulse at the end of december to evaluate, I am sure that he will offer you detailed reports about Impulse.

Hi all,
I am Iraqi RC modeler, last august I was in Istanbul r/c flying field
Fortunately my Turkish friend nawzad was there with his F3A impulse
My curiosity push me close to that model most of the flying day also did some starts and settings for its ( OS 160 FX ) with nawzad, all made me got a close look to the model
Here is my own picture and impression for the impalse to all F3A enthusiasts
I can say I was impressed in the equation of weight, durability, vertical performance as well low speed performance, redder active action in cross wind landing; from my point of view those are the characteristics when I want to buy or build a model for my self
BTW later I knew that impulse is a Turkish made
I wish I can order a model for my self to Iraq
Regards
hashim

hi everybody and also hashim
I read your messages. Impluse is a really hot f3a machine. it snaps like that you have never seen before. It has really low speed performance. I used o.s 160 fx and hatori swanneck manifold and hatori pipe for 160. 4 Metal gear digital servos (5625 hitec). Each weight is 2 oz. I used aliminium spinner ( 5.2 oz) and 16 x 14 apc prop. 1700 m-ah 4 cell battery. 600 cc fuel tank. My plane is under 5 kg. Impulse diving vertical down speed is slow and knifeedge is perfect at low rudder rates.
This plane is produced by BNMODELS and excellent quality. thanks BNMODELS

After all this time on the market, how is this plane fairing on the pattern circuit ? Looking to get something for some serious competition flying.
TIA,
Aamer

I ordered this ARC model in the middle of 2005 from Turkey and got it 3 month later as thy promise me.
I finish it and fly it on April 2006 with my old OS140RX (I have 2).
After 10 flights a decided to fly my old desafio2000 at the 4th open in Cyprus only 2 weeks later.
Than after I came back from Cyprus I install the new OS in the Impulse and make the break-in. when I finish all break-in process I took the Impulse in to the sky.
That was the last takeoff for that model. It crashed after one of the stabilizers got away.[
]
It was my fault!!![:@]
I didn’t do double check for every part of the model after break it in.
Any how I still made 10 full flight, I can say it was light, my models was 4,460Kg
The engine was more than enough power, as much as I remember I didn’t use any mix to have good knife edge.
I also used MK control horns and Clevis, central hobbies CF pushrod.
Servos was JR 8411DS for elevator and rudder, JR 9411SA for ailerons and JR 331 for throttle.
If you need some details let me know and I will try to help you
I attached some photos of my Impulse from it first day I got it to the last day.

Thanks for the quick reply Ram_Z. I am sorry for the early loss of your plane.
I am actually looking to compete outside my country and wanted to get a decent machine which will go the distance. I used to fly pattern but went into IMAC and 3D the last few years but miss competition. There aren't any local competitions which are flown to FAI standards so the old trusty Rubin had been good enough locally. But it will not do as it does not snap well and there has been much improvement in design since then. Since there were no 2m patterships available here, I got myself a Leo 110 (from CMP) as a practice plane and have set it up with an 0S 1.20 AX. It tracks quite well actually but I need some serious action.
How did you do at Cyprus? Do you compete regularly ? Are you going this year ? How many people attend this event and is there a variety of nationalities. I checked the FAI calender and there is no event planned for the Asian - Oceanic region this year.
As for the Impulse, how will it fair against the Brio or Astral XX or the new Integral (from ZN Line and Comp ARF). BVM props have come out with a new one - "Shinden" I think. What is your take on it ? I am on a budget but would spend what I have to get a good airframe.

Aamer

I have a friend Bill Ahrens who competed with the Impulse last season in FAI. The plane is very well built and he won our NSRCA District championships with it. I would rate it as a top notch plane. I flew the Genesis against him and I never beat him. Mike

Hi Aamer
Today I'm flying my ZN Synergy and just order a new Integral.
The Impulse is a good model. The price of it is 1200EURO, it's an ARC.
I think it was designed 3 years ago, now you have newer and better airframe like the ZN Integral. You can buy the white C-ARF model for 990 EURO. I believe it is better then the Impulse.
Haven see the Brio yet, Astral XX is also a good model 2,500$ as I remember. I saw it at the EC2006 in Switzerland. The Astral XX and the Shiden are produce by X-treme composit in Thailand.
There is a lot of threads to read on all models you mention.
Now for the other questions…
In Cyprus I ranked the 9th position with my old Desafio2000.
Last year there were 13 competitors from Cyprus, Italy, Liechtenstein, Austria and Israel.
I hope that this year there will be more competitors there. Unfortunately this year I will not be able to go there but who Knows, May be next year!
In my country I do compete regularly last year I compete in the European championship in Switzerland.
Any other questions?

Hello Ram_Z,
Thanks for elaborating on all my queries. Is it possible to enter any FAI event or do you have to progress through various levels of competitions. For example, do you first have to go through some regional competitions before going to the europian or world championships? What are the prerequisites ? How early does one need to apply if one intends to participate in a competition.
Thanks,
Aamer
