The bATTERY packs that i see advertized weigh about 2 and 3/4 lbs up to 3 lbs. Are these packs you are using something new out?

Orland , I think 1200g is pretty close to 2.75 pounds , nothing special just using new TP pack.

Foofy , Cannot compare them yet, mine still en-route but it will be a lot lighter than Deisel , weights taken by manufacturer but they are usually 100% with their figures , as for windings I will be using Hacker C50 13xL 6.7:1

I have completed and flown the glow powered version of your Shadow 2. I'm here to tell you, you could not have chosen a better craft, flying wise!
The changes Vladimir incorporated have made it a natural for E-power..

The differance between Shadow 1's and Shadow 2's are as follows: The rudder aero couterbalance has been elliminated (continuous hinge line top to bottom of rudder); Fuselage cross-section bigger (fatter); Engine compartment "roomier"; Wing's entirely differant. They are now "Smaragd" style. No change in stabs, except elevator servo's inside stab option.
All this can be "studied" on Noel Barrett's website. He is TechnoHobbies' (Vladimir's) distributer.

Pattnut is correct, but the main difference with the new Electric Shadow is the weight,it has been lightened significantly to accomodate the extra weight demands of an electric setup,it comes ready to drop a Hacker motor directly in (or other motors with minimal effort).
Also the cowl has been lengthenned to allow simple access for replacing battery packs. It also has longer U/C to accomodate bigger props.

The only other main thing is that now Vladamir is offering three versions

1 Complete ( with color scheme of choice )
2 Complete but finished in white to allow customer to paint to his own liking
3 Finished in white but you do a little bit of assembly yourself(firewall placement etc.)

These options give the customer different levels of finish to keep the cost down

I recently purchased a new electric shadow. The workmanship is outstanding,a piece of art. The plane is indeed built light. I do not believe the fuse will take alot of abuse.

I have seen one flying last weekend which was simply awesome, with the light weight it seemed to perform just as well as the 160dz at the patch, very impressive

I also recently purchased an electric Angels Shadow. I must say that it is truly a work of art. The fit and finish is superior to anything else that I have seen. Vladimir really knows how to build these! I am looking forward to getting it in the air.

It is built very light so will require the usual care in handling.

Hi,

Glad you liked it Surefire, and trust me when you fly it you will be even more impressed, I have been flying mine a few weeks now and am thrilled with it.
Last season I was flying an electric Oxai Diesel while I was awaiting on the New E Shadow to be released, also a beautiful model but outside the flying characteristics of each model the BIG difference was the weight, despite exploring every avenue I struggled to get the Oxai down to 4950g, however I now fly the Shadow at 4560g(unmodified).
This weight saving has brought the Hacker setup to life, its amazing the differenceof a few hundred grammes can do on an electric setup.Below are a few pics of it at the field.

PS Vlad is also working on a new Herex version which is lighter again and stronger, I am hoping to have the first example with me in a few weeks!!!

These Irish names look a wee bit familiar to me. Didn't we sit together at the 2001 worlds?

I'm even happier to see that you are all nice and heavily hooked into the sport. It's a small world :-)

What's the URL for your site please?

Eric.
