I'm running a Hatori muffler (#699??) on my 110. Pipes don't work the same on 4 strokes as they do on 2 strokes. Actually, most people notice a slight drop in rpm while running a pipe. Most people I know are using them for noise reduction plus they help keep the plane clean.

A couple of the 90-110 size planes I'm looking at have a pipe tunnel and I was wondering if it was worth the trouble . I have only seen the CF pipe that Central sells. Does anyone else make one for this size? The Hatori 699 is for a 120/140 isn't it?

Tom,
Call Central...
Hatori has a 90-110 sized exhaust and header.
Central may not have it on the websites and stuff but they can sure get them. I don't have one setup with the exhaust system so I can't tell you the numbers.

Tom,
I bought a carbon pipe for my Hanno from ES Composites. It is a carbon version of the venerable Hatori 650. I ran it on the bench to get the setup right and then ATTEMPTED to install it in my Conquest. Turns out it is too long to fit my plane, so I have a beautiful 60 size (very) quiet pipe that I cannot use. It weighs just over 2 oz, with carbon stinger. I paid somewhere north of $130 for with shipping. It might be perfect for your YS 110. If interested, please contact me. [email protected]

You can see the Hatori headers and pipes/mufflers on the following site:
http://www.hatori-models.co.jp/htdocs/data_e/top.html
Click "Airplane" at the top and then click the "4 cycle 48-140" section.
I looks like they suggest the "Cooling Header" # 661 and the 660 muffler.

tph1,
I checked the numbers for the pipe set up I have on my YS 110. It has a Hatori #674 with the cooling header # 580. The system works well for me. If you have a pipe tunnel, I would suggest using it. I love how quiet it is and personally I can't stand the look of a muffler hanging out of the front of a nice looking pattern ship. But getting back to your original issue, it won't increase your power.
