My last pattern event was the 1992 State Championships in S.C. Since that time, I have not flown in a Pattern compition. I was flying Masters class, yet did not want to go into the turn a round class. I have head of an "Old Timers" class and would like to inquire about this class. If my info is correct, the specs. are no retracts, no pipes, no modern engines. If anyone has any info on this, I would appreciate some
advice on where to start. I have a Super Curare, rear exhaust Compersator, and Arrow pattern planes, which I know will not be accepted in this class, yet i do have a Tiger Tail, and Super Kaos in the box. As far as engines, I have Super Tiger 60, Eyna 60 , several old Webras with perry carbs. My radios should be ok. I have JR 8's PCM 9, Centry 7 and 4001 servos.
Any Advise

A lot of us getting back after 10-12 year lay offs. Tim, I haven't seen you since the contest at Augusta in 90/91ish. Have you seen Charlie Achenbach?

Tom Brown and I were talking about you guys the other day, as well as the Nash's, Johnny Powers, Johnny Clark,Russ Childs,Sammy Hill, Dennis Parham, Darrell Kampschror and his crew the Walkers. Ron and Linda Hill, Bob Lane and the list goes on. We were talking about how we normally got 30+ fliers at a contest untill turnaround became in voge. Heck we had 59 one year! Now we've droped the contests due to getting less than 20 and the meet became a loss for the club. TPH1 seems to know me but I can't put a face to him. Of course TPH1 doesn't tell me much either.

Tim, I'm Tom Hinton I lived in Georgia back then. I flew some with Darrel K and some of those others. I'm sure you'd recognize me if you saw me. I don't think you lived in Sumpter back then did you?

Hi Tom !
Yes I did live in Sumter then, been here since 1977 except when uncle sam decided I needed to see Korea for a year. You going to fly turn around or SPA? I'm going to fly TA and most likely some IMAC. Just picked up a RTF Eclispe from Pattern Proz (Outstanding service btw) and have a QQ Yak for sport/imac flying on the board. Trying to get some flying time in with my son's trainer to test some new radios before I comitt them to new airplanes.

I'm gonna give the new pattern a try. I am finishing a 2 meter Temptation to fly. I'm still trying to get the feel of this. I plan on being in Ocala to see if I can do this. I haven't given much thought to SPA. I kinda like the way the pattern planes have evolved. I'll see you somewhere this year.
Good luck, Tom

Hi guys, good to here some of the old names. Bill and I occasionally here from the old guys. Larry and Chris Nash keep in contact
and are getting the fever back. Brian, Bill's son, has charged the batteries on the Curare, and is ready to fly, as well as finishing a
new Compensator. Bill and I both have order the G-3 simulator to practice up. Bill is leaning toward Giant Scale, and I will fly anything. It would be good to get the guys together again and maybe fly what ya bring. I am sure, with enough notice, we could get a Pattern Reunion together. Gooffy and Nitta I am sure will attend, as well as Al Tyler and others mentioned above
