Default Nice pattern plane for a YS91?

I have a YS91AC looking for work. What's a good pattern plane for this engine? My only real issue would be with retracts (lumpy field[&o] ), but will take them on if there's no other option...

TIA,

BK

No need to worry about retracts, fixed gear with wheelpants is the "norm" these days.

CA Models Widebody 60 or Epsilon would be my reccomendation. Available as kits or ARC, even the kits come with pre sheeted wings & tails. Do a search on RCU, there have been build threads on both models.

The guy that taught me to fly pattern only flies Hanson Runarounds using a YS91. Ive had two Runarounds, probably the most neutral 90 size plane out there.

You might want to take a look at the new QUEST-2. I have one ready to go as soon as the snow melts. The new QUEST is lighter than the old QUEST and will work well with the YS 91.

I had it (the YS 91) in my old Quest and it did just fine. Of course I had to go and put a 1.40L in it for no good reason whatsoever other than ridiculous verticals :-)

I'm currently flying a Conquest VI from PAC with my 91 AC. It's an older design with retracts, but it seems to be sturdy. Running a Dave Brown soft mount, Hatori pipe and header and APC 14x10, it has more power than I am capable of straining and everyone at our field loves how quiet it is. I also like the looks of the Widebody 60. There's a good video of it flying in that section of the forum.

If you like to build then you might consider the MK Skystar .90. The Runaround is a great flying airplane, but shipping across the Pacific might be rather expensive [] as it would for any glass/foam kit from the US. There are lots of ARFs if you want to get in the air quickly!!
Happy Hunting,
Will B.
PS You can still get the plans for the original wood/foam Runaround.
