Tube rather than rod although this may be nothing more than a language induced problem.

Go to http://www.gatorrc.com/

On the extreme left go to the last item under Gator Accessories 'Wing Tubes'. While there are more elegant (and expensive) set ups these are more than adequate. I'd start with no less than 7/8 x 24 ---probably 7/8 x 30.

I'm certain you'll get more responses.

I'm currently using a 7/8" aluminum tube for a 65" wing span. I would think you might want to consider a 1" tube for a full 2M pattern ship. This is just my opinion of course. Also, I think your tube should be about 33% of the wing panel. An example: 35" wing panel would use 11.50" of tube per panel not including what goes through the fuse. If your fuse is 5" thick then your tube would be 27" long. Hope I've helped some. Take care and hope its warm and dry where you are.

ARFs use aluminum water pipe and anything else they find. Thick, thick, thick.

The std. for 2m is .035" or .9mm and generally is 6061 alloy.

UBY, you may want to consider carbon tubes. The PBG tubes and sockets from Australia are good products and areeasily substituted for aluminum tubes. They have greater capability and deflect far less under load, and are about half the weight of the aluminum. Perfect for pattern models. Get these from Tony Stillman at Radio South.
