Default riverside event

There's is a pattern event here in socal in Riverside on April 9th/10th. Where is the event located? I used to fly in Moreno Valley when March was still a full base back in the 80s and early 90s but I don't know where this riverside field is.

Weather has kept me from getting the practice I would like to get but I am still planning on attempting the competition.

Thanks!

Yeah - I thought so. I just don't think I'm going to be able to make it into the competition this year. I simply do not have the time and I'm having too much fun with 3D right now. I do want to compete in pattern though because I know it will make me a better pilot.

I was able to get out today but the engine in my pattern plane (if you can call my Venus that) simply isn't running up to snuff and I need to send it into magnum to get looked at - I don't anticipate that I would have it back in time and the plane simply isn't ready for competition. I moved the CG back a little bit but it needs to go back a little farther to be right I think. Bottom line - it simply isn't doing the manuevers correctly without major control correction.

I do love the way it flies though...

Well sorry to hear that you probably won't be making it. As far as your venus is concerned, it will fly the sportsman manuevers quite well. I watched scott macafee fly his at a few contests last year in sportsman and that kid did real well with it. I believe he won two or more contests with it. You are correct in my opinion about pattern making you a better pilot. It has showed me how to make all the corrections to hold decent lines... Inverted rudder corrections. I'm not a great pilot yet, but I still hear people every time I go flying talking about how smooth I fly. Well, I really don't though, but they think I do for some reason. Guess it's because I'm the only pattern flyer at my field. Everyone else is 3d and Imac basically. Hope you get your engine fixed and can get some flights in.. See ya at the contests in the future!!!!!!! Good luck to ya..
