Hi Guys,
Miami/Ft. Lauderdale is not having the lines, but prices are in the $3.00/gallon range. Freddy and I plan on leaving tomorrow afternoon. I'm thinking of taking a 5 gallon can of gas for "reserve" incase the N.Florida area is zapped on gas.
What hotel are most staying in?

No gas crunch here in Jax.FL. but it's not getting any cheeper, I have not seen any lines for gas. That sucks Jason's not coming, was looking forward to seeing him fly in person, Oh well. Hope we have a good turn out with gas prices and everything else going on. Talked to Billy Meadows this afternoon and he has quite a bit of some good give aways donated for the contest and it looks like we will have some nice weather as well. Billy has been helping a few new sportsman pilots at the feild and the intrest in pattern seems at a all time high for our feild so maybe we will have a good size sportsman class at least. Im really looking forward to this contest as work has been dominating my free time since the GA contest and flying time has been minimal at best. Hope to see you all there this weekend and good luck, safe travel!!

Hi Guys,
Billy M. did a great job of CD'ing the Jacksonville contest this weekend. He arranged for quite a bit of give-aways, raffle gifts, and dinner on Saturday night. The field is a fantastic site and the slightly cooler temps were nice compared to sofla. Thanks to everyone for attending in the middle of the gas shortage. Thanks a lot Billy for hosting a great event!!!!

Hi Ron,
Maybe Billy could post the scores. For the 12 of us who competed there was plenty of raffle prises. Also nice, Billy had ice-chests of drinks for the judges. Break down was 5 in FAI (Jim, Joe, Ryan Gary, Freddy), Masters (Jim I., Billy M.), Advanced (Mike H.), Intermediate (Brian B., Scott A.), Sportsman (two gentleman) - twelve total.
I hope Aoy is feeling better!! We missed you there - as well as the other D3 folks.

I'll second what Jim said, great contest. People could take lessons from Billy on how to run a pattern contest. Very laid back, lots of goodies, food, drinks, awesome site....that contest stays on my "must attend" list when I'm active. As long as they have it, I'll make the drive.
