Default Quest by Bryan Hebert

Bryan Hebert has given me permission to convert two of his newer models the Quest and shinden into CAD format to be able to build a wood version.
The Quest and Shinden is a well designed and terrific looking aircraft that I hope to be able to reproduce to Bryans high quality of craftsmanship and workmanship.
I feel very privileged to be entrusted by Bryan for this opportunity.
During the next month the plans will be converted to CAD.
If anyone has any interest in this aircraft, I will make the plans available at the cost of printing and postage.
This aircraft will be for the scratch builder there will be no kit, just the plans and maybe a fiberglass canopy cowl and bellypan.
I am undertaking this project for the sheer enjoyment of modeling and hope to share it with like minded people.
There are several photos below from Bryans website which he has personally give me permission to post on here

I look forward to hearing any feed back and comments expressed by anyone. There is a new website under construction which I hope to post construction pictures and any other relevant information to this aircraft. Any required information I can be reached on

[email protected]
[email protected]

Thanks again Bryan for this opportunity

Hey Troy

I'm interested because I love to build. I have some questions for you.

1. Built-up or foam wing?

2.Plug-in or one piece wing?

3.Adjustable stab and or wing?

4.Will plans be available as full size drawings with wing plots?

5.Will plans be available on CD Rom?

You've got your work cut out for you. I wish you luck because this type of work is tedious and time consuming.

Count me in!

I know the plane, it flies beautifully. Especially with Bryan on the sticks.

I know Bryan reasonably well as a pilot and he doesnt do anything halfway. If he actually gave this the nod the plans will be perfection, and if you build it like he tells you to it will be very capable of flying to perfection,,,, as long as the pilot gets out of the way of the airframe. He is a perfectionist and he puts as much heart and pride into what he does as anyone I have ever known and it shows in his skill and the performance of his planes.

Im 90% sure its a foam core plug in wing. And everything will be adjustable I would bet. If you know anything about Bryan you know that he is Mr adjustment. Hes the only guy I have ever seen take his plane is his room and basically tear it apart the night before a contest and it flies just as well if not better than the day before.

I'd be very interested in this if the fiber glass parts will be available and if the wing is also going to be all wood.

Hi Everyone

Thanks for the kind comments. I will be working hard on both the shinden and quest over the next month.

It will be a foam plugin wing

Adjustable wing and stab

Plans will be full size with wing tempaltes and other tempaltes as needed

Not sure about plans being on cdrom. I might make the wing templates avaliable via email.

I will advise more after speaking to Bryan

Thanks

Troy

The advantage of having the option to buy a cdrom with the plans is that it eliminates the shipping problems which sometimes happens when shipping plans in paper tubes. Some postal services around the world seems to handle it better than others, but I can tell you that I have had 3 different shipments of plans (all of them in really sturdy tubes and/or boxes) all being destroyed almost completely. It must happen at my side since the guys keep telling me they send plans all over the world with no problems, but I seem to get just about everything damaged or destroyed. Then when I bought the Insight plans from Mark Hunt he offered me the files to have them printed locally and it worked out great. Thanks Mark!

Hi Everyone

Thanks for all the great respones. I think I have replied to everyone who made an enquiry personlly, if i missed you I am sorry there was so many emails. Anyway I have started the plans for both the quest and shinden. I hope to have the plans complete by mid december, but I will keep everyone up to date with my progress. The plans will cost roughly $30 US plus shipping which will be on an individual basis. I have a retired boat builder producing the compoite parts and I know he does execelent work at very resonable prices. The website will be up and running soon which I hope to have construction pics etc. Hopefully everyone will contribute there pictures to show off there building skills. I know there are some really great quality builders out there. Any more informatiom just email me on

Hi Everyone

I will post some pictures over the weekend. I should have the laser cut formers back by then. The first set of composites from the molds will be complete. The fuse sides are almost ready to construct. The foam core templates are at the laser cutters as well. So all going good I should have construction pics and details early next week

Thanks

Troy

Yes, I am ready to start to build Shinden from orignial darwing which Troy-san is working on. Since I lost my Oxalys , I fly "Suxess " CPLR design Bipe and I really need to have something attractive mono plane. Bryan-san and Troy-san have me good offer of buliding Shinden. I will be able to pitch in some update my Shinden Project report to this forum.
