Where (or are they out yet?) the 2006 sequences? I decided to fly pattern next year instead of IMAC since there are more pattern events around me it seems, than imac? thanks!

Razor, welcome to pattern. You are in a great area to start also, there are a few pilots in Temple who are active pattern flyers. Paul, Bobby and BW will no doubt be a great source of info for you.
As for sequences, we are a littledifferent than IMAC. We do not change our sequences every year, you can download them from NSRCA website. www.nsrca.org
After next year, we will be in our sequence cycle and change then. FAI is the only class this year changing to the new P-07 sequence.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me. I noticed you are looking for a new pattern plane. There is one in houston being sold by Steve Kessler, an eclipse but i am not sure the condition. there is a post in the RCU ads for it.
I look forward to meeting you a the Temple opener or maybe before then at a primer. What class wil you be flying?
Good Luck

Please take the time to join the NSRCA, the publcation K-Factor has a ton of info in it and its fun to see how things are going around the country. You may consider joining the discussion list. there is more info on te website.
See you in the SPRING!!!

Hope to see you at the Temple contest - Actually there will be two "temple" contests since the Waco contest will be held in Temple (April) and of course the Temple contest (May) will be in Temple. If you live in the Temple/Belton/Killeen area come visit and fly at our field.
Paul
Temple Aeromodelers
The other pattern flyers at our club are Bobby (advanced class), and BW(FAI).
The club website is http://www.templeaeromodelers.org/

Welcome to the sport Razor. Good to see you over here considering "the dark side" and away from DOD.
There are lots of planes to choose from depending on how much you want to spend and at what level you are wanting to be competitive. It shouldnt be hard to find whatever it is you are wanting if you look in the right places. Some good places to start are here and the NSRCA discussion mailing list. Just join NSRCA and ask to be added to the discussion. Only thing is you ought to open a new email address for it because it will absolutely flood your email.
What level did you compete in in IMAC? Sportsman pattern is equivalent to Basic IMAC, Intermediate pattern is equivalent to Sportsman IMAC, Advanced Pattern is Equivalent to Intermediate IMAC, Masters Pattern is equivalent to Advanced IMAC and FAI is equivalent to Unlimited,,,, very generally speaking.
Get with the guys Chuck mentioned from Temple, they will point you in the right direction. BW is the top flyer of the bunch and just a super nice fella. Paul (intermediate) and Bobby Zikes (advanced) are some really super nice guys too and good pilots. Also Todd and Max Blose (Waco Hobby Shop) are really knowledgeable about pattern and may be able to help get you pointed in the right direction.
Like Chuck, I am a relative newcomer to pattern but I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have and if I cant I can get you to someone who can.

Temptation- kit
Partner-kit
Genesis-arf or kit
Smaragd-kit
Symphony-kit
Hydeaway-?
Impact (if it doesnt come apart)-pseudo arf
Aries-kit
Pinnacle-arf
Brio-kit
Eclipse
Icepoint- Nice inexpensive arf
Top of that list is probably the Impact, Genesis, Partner, Pinnacle and Brio.
As you know there are about 1000000 designs out there, those are just some good ones to get you started window shopping that I see the big boys flying.

I like the genesis, I thought of going electric as I have the big thunder power batteries for an ion helicopter that are the same, but not sure. My favorite plane is a majestic, but you cant get them here anymore. Will have to see I guess.

Since most of you guys are semi-local (anything under 200 miles in TX is "local"), do you know of any pattern guys in Austin?
I'm finishing up a Curare w/ a Jett 90, but don't know that I'll fly that in competition (sportsman). Since I spent a significant amount of $ on the gear for this thing, what's an economical plane that would be competitive if I stick my Saito 91 in it? I'd like to find something that would last me through intermediate without having to purchase a new engine. I'm open to the newer designs, but still really like the older pattern designs w/ the long thin fuselages a la the Desire, Conquest, and the like. This should probably be a new thread, but I'll take any opinions offered!

As you can see I just built a Genesis. They are EXTREMELY nice, and after flying Todds I can attest that they are a cut above. Electric is going to cost you about $5000 give or take if you go ARF, less is you build the kit. If cost isnt an issue electric is the way to go, I LOVED the way the electric Genesis flew. Very smooth, not too fast and doesnt do stupid stuff...
Fxrs Tim, try the ZEN 90 or the Giant Scale planes Swallow, both are real good planes for the 91. I personally dont know a single person from the Area, maybe someone else does.

i think paul Villarubia (sp) is from the Austin area but i have not seen hide nor hair of him this year. Maybe some one knows of how to get in touch with him. He flew FAi if i remember correctly with a Sequel??? Anyways, good luck.
Mike and i usually patrol the forums trying to help.

I am in San Antonio, if you need help, gimme a holler and maybe we can fly one weekend and i can help you out. (Fxrs Tim)

Anybody that's flown Imac seriously, the startup cost of electric would be comparable. Try $175 for a 3 bladed prop, $160 for a true turn spinner...........
