I am in the process of finishing up my Excelleron 90. When I put the pull-pull system on, I did as suggested, wicked light CS onto the connection link (crimp link) to insure that it does not come apart. Then I put the aircraft aside becaue it was late and I was headed to hit the sack.

When I got up in the AM, there were several spots of CA that had apparently dripped on the fuselage side. They formed this crusty peaky looking spots (not a lot of them, but I guess I got carried away and put more than one drop on one or two of the connections).

How do I get those off of there without making a bigger mess of things?

You did not say the finish but if it is Monocote I have had good luck using Trim solvent for Monocote..a little and just keep in moving, removes most traces..might even soften it enough you can pry it off and then rub the area with fresh solvent..Charlie

Thanks, Charlie. I will give it a shot. It's not much of an area, just a few drops on the side of the fuse just forward of the horizontal stab, but I know it's there, ya know? And, of course, any time anyone looks at the plane I will KNOW they are seeing those damned spots and I will begin to defend their presence.. ha.

Never tried Monokote trim solvent for removing CA stains, it sounds like a good thing to try. I've used CA remover, which will ofcurse work, but might be the more expensive solution.

Hobby Town has a house brand CA remover that worked very well with my Excelleron. Smells like acetone but I can't swear to it.

Yes, I've used acetone to remove CA before. But be careful, as most CA removers will also remove laquer paints.

Guys, I use straight up acetone for this. Works great. It takes a little more rubbing though.

Trim solvent works, but it's a little harsher. If you rub too much it will smear the color.

The Hobby Town remover worked well on Ultracoat for me. I used it a few months after the accident and it worked in seconds.

If you happen to have pure nitromethane around it works better than anything I have used, including acetone. Of course check what your putting it on so it doesnt eat that too.
