Only Aeroworks stocks the CA Model planes for the whole US. They usually drop ship for the dealers. so if you can't get it at Aeroworks, probably none to be had right now. They have a container on the way -or maybe here already from Argentina nd my have some soon.

I believe Cental Hobbies will be getting some Genesis basic kits soon, but I haven't heard anything about Eclipse kits for a couple years.

Yes you could order direct. I did that with my first Widebody 40.

Speaking of Widebodys, does anyone know if they are discontinued?

I have seen that it is now called the Eclipse 2 but haven't seen why, or if there are changes. There site gives no details. If you want one thats already built swk551 has one for sale.

I've got 2.........one flying and one in the build process.

There were some minor changes in the 2 version......nothing you can't do yourself if you by the kit vs the arf.

I fly an Eclipse 2 and I’ve compared it to a friend of mines original eclipse.

I would say the main difference compared to the original eclipse is that the engine cowl stretches all the way back to the landing gear making it much easier to install the landing gear.
The wing is also placed further back to easier make the proper CG and the aerodynamic counterbalance on the rudder is removed. Other minor changes are a hardly noticeable cosmetic change of chin cowl shape, slightly lower fin, and if I remember correctly a small change of stabiliser placement (a few millimetres up or down).

I don’t think these small changes have any impact on the flying qualities. Mine flies great but I’m assuming the original one does to.

Central Hobbies and Aero-Works had a few of the Genesis basic kits left from their recent shipment. The Genesis is the latest generation of CA Model pattern planes. I liked this plane so much, I decided to sell my one remaining Eclipse. Both kits use the same construction methods.

Yeah, my friend has a genesis. I like c.a's kits, and the genesis is a fine plane, I just don't want anything to do with Chip...
I was just thinking if the Eclipse the mike has was the light one that i could replace my heavier one with it.

The great thing in ordering the basic builder kit from Central Hobbies or Aero-Works, it that this cuts Chip out as the middle man. We will have a gaggle of Genesis (built from basic kits) in the Houston area shortly. Five of which are electric. One is a YS DZ160. There is an electric version in San Antonio and Waco and a glow version in Port Arthur and Baton Rouge (Chip Hyde ARF). By the way, my Genesis fuse was as light as my Eclipse fuse.

Seems Chip is everybodies favorite person.

I hear the French would love to have him back as well.
Perhaps after his kind words about the Japanese at the Worlds they would like to have him too.

But then again after his slanderous and blatant attempt to manipulate the US team we are probably stuck with him. Too bad. There are so many pilots than can represent us better. Too bad Maybe guys like Don, Troy, and Andrew will come through for us this year. There is more to representing your country than just flying well. Watch closely the olympics as they unfold and look at how the people in 2-3-4 react to the results. They don't tend to attack the judges and act like jerks. They are class people and are interested in the promotion and image of the sport. I don't think we have that in our former world champion.
