Hi Kjell

How does the Impact compare to the Integral for flight characteristics flying F3A schedules. I have over 400 flights on my model and still going strong with DZ160. I am in the process of purchasing the Comp ARF Integral.

Regards,

Peter

Keen to read more on this comparison as well ! ! I have read on the "Integral kinda build" thread (I think) where an owner of both said while the Impact was a great model, the Integral is a "step up".

I have an Impact nearly ready (should be flying in the next 2-3 weeks) and have an Integral due for arrival mid December, so expect to have that ready in January . . so will be able to do my OWN comparison and will report my findings

Hi,

...The two flyers ( impact & Integral ) are very different in many aspect ... I will try to give my personal experience about those two, and i will also remind that i need much more time to get proper known to the Integral, since this one demands much more of me ...

Generally;
The Impact is easier to fly the P- schedules, while the Integral have a higher potential and would do the F-schedule-manouvers better.

I would take the chance to say that for the P- schedules (and lower class-programs ) the Impact would make it easier to get a higher score.

The Integral is a typhical F-schedules plane, and in the hand of a high-comp pilot, it wouldn`t dissapoint the best. The potential is "all the way to the top."

Detajl;
The Integral is much more responsive than the impact, and it really challenge you in most aspect. In some situations you feel like you are flying a tail-heavy plane ,and at the same time; feels quite normal in others ...

I like my planes to the "nose-heavy-side" if possible ,without suffer to much in other situation. The benefit are as known ; nice lines and track, predictable ,nice "lock-on" feeling and a generally nice display.This work very well on the Impact, without suffer too much, and at the same time; there are no coupling`s to worrie about.

The Integral is quite different, and it comes to a point where it refuse this forward CG position in many manouvers ; make it harder to draw nice lines , track ,and generally the basic situations.
This is all new for me, and in fact, i need to think different while setting everything up, and get use to the flying characteristic. The benefit comes when performing the higher level manouvers, which also have a higher K-factor score ... A typhical example is the snap`s: really nice and crispy with a perfect timing. The Impact is not even close to this to be honest ...

Summary:
Everything is a compromise, and you have to choose what suit you best . Both planes have their advantages/disadvantages compared to eachother and it`s all up to what you prefer, and your strategy in the competions ...

Hope this help
Kjell Olav

Kjell,

Which would you choose in strong wind? Impact or Integral?

Thanks, Jeff

PS. did you fly the Integral at the World Champs?

Hi Jeff,

In fact i am suprised how well these two handle`s strong winds .. from all directions ...
Both are "equal" if i had to pick one of them what wind concern.

The difference between these two, as far i have experienced ; is in crosswind the Impact put it`s nose against the wind, and "almost" keep the track by itself , while the Integral is more like drifting sideways. This difference in behaviour is quite ok, and is more a matter of liking.

I did not qualify for the WC ; But we are a gang of buddies that are in an offensive position now !
