Okay Guys, time has come to start a new post regarding the upcoming Tangerine Contest, scheduled for December 9 & 10, 2006, to be held at the RCACF Field located near Apopka, Florida. There has been alot of discussion in between the lines in various other threads that I happened to stumble upon, so, hopefully, this new post will make it much easier for me, as your CD.
First things first, the AMA sanction was obtained a couple of months ago, prior to the official publishing of the 2007 sequences. Having said that, to avoid any confusion, rather than waiting until the pilot's meeting in December, I would like to hear from those of you who are planning on attending, whether you will be perfectly content to fly the 2006 sequence or prefer to fly the 2007 sequence, or little of both, whatever! There has also been alot of discussion amongst the FAI pilots in D3 as to their flying both P-07 & F-07.
My main concern is: Be prepared.
My goal is: To rejuvenate the December Tangerine Contest back to its premier event status.
I look forward to all your replys/comments/suggestions.

Either is ok with me. Everyone will probably been about the same boat regarding the 07 sequences. I don't think it will matter much, but no one will have been thru judging certification for the 07 sequences at that point. If we are going to fly the 06 sequences, I will fly intermediate. If the 07 sequences, I will fly advanced.

Officially, I vote for all of next year's sequences.....-07.
And will be glad to help on the technical side of things, like the scoring.

Steve - GREAT Job! A FL December contest will be awesome. AMA classes should flythe new sequences. The D3 champioinship contest will already be over with class winners decided. On to the new sequences!!!
Again, Thanks for hosting this contest.

I can't vote for the classes that I don't fly, but I think P-07 and F-07 would be a good thing to fly for FAI. As far as the other classes... my opinion is that flying 07 patterns makes more sense.
Also, unless something changes, at the Jax contest, either Friday (if I can make it) or Saturday/Sunday after the contest is finished for the day, I will hold an "F-07 clinic" for any of the FAI pilots that want it. We can go through the sequence, practice the whole thing, or just tips on certain maneuvers.

Hey Steve,
If we get to vote, I say let's go ahead and fly the 07 sequences. That's what I plan on practicing after districts.
Jason,
Sounds like fun to have an F07 clinic. Would us lowly masters pilots be invited?
Thanks,
Emory.

Hey Steve!
I am all about having everyone fly the 07 sequences. Like Jim W. said, the Districts are done by then anyway. Time for a fresh start!
P07 & F07 for FAI too.
See ya in a few weeks!

It is a well known fact that if you fly a harder schedule it improves your previously "hard" schedule abilities. The more we fly the finals schedules the more we create a stronger pool of FAI pilots and judges. Just make sure that the CD announces well in advance so that you don't have a palace=revolt on the day of your contest :-)
Congratulations to every pilot who made it to and through the MA FAI semi's.
Regards,
Eric.

I believe the sanction was just for P, and Steve was worried about scoring. If there is no problem with scoring, and all FAI pilots want to fly F on Sunday, it will be flown. Unless Steve says otherwise.

You got it, just as long as there are no scoring issues. A reliable source indicates Melissa Hester will be on hand to assist. Another thing to remember is limited daylight in December, so we may be limited to 5 rounds (FAI: 3 rounds P07 & 2 rounds F07) depending of course upon the number of pilots entered and the distance some of the pilots may have to drive home on Sunday night. Any other suggestions from the FAI guys are welcomed.

Well we could always resort to a calculator to add up the scores.... I am all for counting the F pattern in the final tabulation.

I am so glad to see the Tangerines making a come back. I spent quite a few Christmas holidays in Florida while my dad competed. He placed second in D-Novice in 1974. I have that plaque and a photo of him holding it on my shop wall. He was so proud of that. I plan on competing in Sportsman this year. I dunno what I'm flying, but my "mad scientist" brother is rounding up something. Will there be practice available on Friday??? Hopefully so.
