There is no distributor in the USA. Try Singapore Hobby. I have not bought from them, but many here on RCU have.

For your engine, the best plane in its class is the Alliance then comes the Synergy but of course you have to do your part by building it straight. I had had a blast building the Alliance and the Sky Star I got from them. If ever you decide on a bigger plane (90 class) dont get the sky star, get the Topstar 110 and be sure to power it with YS110 or and piped OS 90 or 120.

pmr,
Re. MK Topstar 110 + YS110 - what's your take on exhaust? I'm afraid that the designated short Hatori muffler #725 may be too noisy. Asano makes longer and more quite carbon pipes for headers with attach directly to the engine, but not sure if I want to go down that route. Any suggestions?[X(]
Thanks.

The Topstar 110 wasnt mine but I borrowed it from my flying buddy for a contest and flew her about 25 flights. It was fitted with a stock muffler but it really wasnt that noisy. A flying buddy has an Astral X 120 powered by YS 110 with Hatori #725 and its alot quieter than the stock muffler and as a plus you dont have to assemble and disassemble the pipe everytime you take off the wing. My opinion is that your better off with the Hatori than the long type pipes. Hope it helps.

I have built both the Synergy 50 and the Sky Star 90. Both fly great. The Synergy is powered by a YS 63s and burns 30% nitro.

Singapore Hobbies is completely reliable. I have purchased at least 6 MK kits from them over the past 5 years (along with some other goodies) and everything has arrived in 2 weeks or less and in perfect condition (no box damage/kit damage). Shipping is pretty reasonable for being sent airmail. About 50$US for a TopstarII kit. Less for smaller/lighter kits.
Good luck and enjoy building a great, all wood kit!

Hi Will, thank you for those kind words!
The engine is the MVVS 91 rear exhaust with some modifications. The stock engine is designed to run on 0-5% nitro so I had to do some modification to run 15% nitro. I have added three extra shims in addition to the one provided with the engine. The glow plug which gives the best throttle response and power is the OS #F with two gaskets. The stock 8mm carb dose not work very good in an inverted position when the engine is loaded down with an APC 15x8 prop. It can handle a 14x8 prop but any more it suffers from midrange problems with dead sticks as a result. After 20 flights, all dead sticks, I swap the carb with a Perry pump carb #9100 and a Perry pump. This carb works flawless. I have glued the carb into place with 5 min epoxy to prevent air leakage. The exhaust is Hatori # 700 muffled tuned pipe set at 22 inches from glow plug to the first baffle in the pipe. This set up gives 8700 rpm on the ground and my 7,8 Ib Sky Star 90 unlimited performance in the vertical. The engine is mounted in a home made “Hyde mount” with nose ring support. The power of the MVVS 91 is almost identical to the Super Tigre G90.
If I had known how much trouble I had to go through to get the MVVS to work I would have purchased a YS 110 instead.

Henning

Hi Henning,
Glad to hear you were able to resolve the initial difficulties you encountered running the MVVS. I have a Skystar 90 kit (unbuilt) that I was thinking about powering with a Hanno Special. The Skystar can be built so light, I figured the Hanno would have enough power. I also have a Webra Bully 1.20LS (rear exhaust) I could use, but it seems like overkill, plus it is considerably heavier than the Hanno. Probably about the same weight as the YS 1.10.
Happy Flying,
Will B.

Hi Will,
I believe the Hanno will be marginal power for this plane. Even if you build it light. If I should build another one I would not consider any other engine than the YS 110.
Good luck with the project.

Henning

The Synergy is a updated version for the Alliance. Both are designed by CPLR.
