There's a boxer 90 kit for sale on ebay up to $91. This is a very good beginner pattern plane. It won the Nats in intermediate a couple of summers ago.

I'd second the recomendation of a Boxer. I've had a .45 size w/ a YS 45 and am currently flying a 60. They're both wonderul flyers, very smooth and easy, and easy to build straight, too!
Don't let the very sharp leading edge scare you away, either, they're not at all sensitive in pitch or prone to unexpected snaps if you set them up by the instructions.
