What is the best 3 bladed prop for the OS 160 on a Focus II? I've been told by just about every judge that I'm being rushed too much & I need something to slow me down some. Also, what would be the best spinner for this setup?

First everyone is probably going to tell you to get a lockhart repitched 3 blade. They are really good, probably the best, but Dave doesn't make a whole lot of them.
Right now I'm running a Bolly 16.5x12 with reshaped tips and I really like it. The mejlik 16x11 is really good on that engine too. There's a company called cleveland props or something that makes a mejlik-like 16x11 that may be even better. the OS 160 will turn any of the above very well, and it will get that idle speed down pretty slow. Down lines will be a lot smoother.
But this is like asking which engine to use.....heh.
Good luck and see you in 3 weeks!!

Rufus,
The three blades work well and Dave's is one of the best.
But I settled on a APC 15.5x12 4 blade on my Focus II with a Webra 1.60. The power is tamed quite a bit and the down lines are slower.
The 4 blade is a power hog, but you have the horse to turn it.

As far as APC 3 blade is concerned would the 15.75X13 or the 15X13.5 work best or does it make any difference? Also would I use the Tru Turn FAI 3 1/4 120 3 bld. spinner?

Hey there Rufus,
I didn't get to see you fly at the last contest, but I'm not so sure I'd look for the prop to solve your problem. I'll probably get a lot of flack for saying this because I'm constantly told I fly too fast too, but I'll offer my advice anyway ;-)
Fly where you are comfortable. If it is a little quicker than everyone else, fly a little further out to give yourself a little time between maneuvers. Try half throttle too!
Where you are going to notice a difference with a multi-blade prop is on the down lines with low throttle. The multi-blade at full throttle is going to be nearly as quick as your current set up.
Good luck!

Hey Joe,
I think my problem is that I'm building up too much speed in the down lines even at idle. At least I'll give it a try & the worst that can happen is it won't make any difference. Then I'll have to think up some other excuse why I get lower scores. Maybe it's just my flying. Thanks for everyone's help & I'll see you in a couple of weeks.

Rufus,
I use a APC 15.75 x 13 repitched by Dave Lockhart to 15.75 x11. Works very well.
Another off the shelf prop to try is the 2 blade 18.1x10W that APC introduced. You might have to order direct from them. Be sure to note the "W" at the end of the size.

Other factors which have an influence on downline speed include model weight and idle rpm on the ground.
I have used the OS 160 for a few years now(The crankcase on #1 wore out yesterday), and (IMO only) you should be able to get a comfortable downline speed with a 17/12 provided that the model weighs 10 1/4 lbs or less dry,and ground idle rpm can be set at 1700 or less without going out in spins.
The problem with multi-blades(again,just IMO) is that they can be a bit marginal on thrust for big manouevres on really windy days--especially now that the YS 160 has caught up or exceeded the thrust easily available from the 2-strokes.

Just tried out the 18.1x10 2 Bladed prop & it works great. It was slowing it down so much I was having to add power to keep it from stopping & the vertical power is still unlimited. Now if I could just work my thumbs better.
