Default Needing some LG for my plane

I'm needing some landing gear for my Angel's Shadow. We're converting it over to electric and need some taller gear for the prop clearance. It just so happens that my E Genesis gear would do the job, but I don't want to sacrifice one plane for the other. I'd like to buy another set but don't know how to buy just the gear. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. (Or if you have a crashed E Genesis, I'd like to buy yours!) Thanks

PS Posted here instead of Electric pattern because there's more traffic...

Measure the gear on you Genesis and then go to tower Hobbies on line and you can by gear. If your switchind to elec. then I'd suggest the glass filled and not alum...

John.
Are you considering the Bolly Electric gear?

Also Central hobbies sells a carbon gear that is extremely tall. I haven't used it though.
I like the Bolly..

Hope this helps..

Yes I've looked at the Bolly gear and it might fit the bill. The Central Hobbies gear is ES gear which has a strengthening doubler in the corner which wouldn't allow me to fit it into the Shadow's slot in the fuselage. I'll look at Tower Hobbies tomorrow when I get up. Thanks for the advice!

As stated I run the bolly electric and long gear. They both work good with my setups with 22x12's.

Good luck!!

John,

Let me know if you find those gear. I was eyeballing your's at Houston and I think they would be perfect for my Brio. Hope you have got a flight or two on the Genesis!

Will do, Jeff. I think we're going to have to go with the Bolly gear. The only problem is our "slot" in the plane for the gear is only 1.18" wide and the Bolly gear is 1.25" . Guess we can do some trimming.

John

PS I've flown it once and it flies great, but ALOT different than glow. Maybe that'll get me slowed down from Mach 1 on my maneuvers!

From my friends who have the tall ES gear I don't think it has the gusset in the corners. Compare the weights of these with the Bolly.

Mine has....but it's not very deep...should be poss. to modify the fus/belly pan slot on most designs...

Here's the page:

http://www.bollyprops.com/Landinggear.html

and here's the importer in the US. Very helpful via emails:

I love the ES gear. I have the shorter set on my Partner and I've flown the taller set some on a good friend of mine's e-Impact. I would think that it would be easier to Dremel out the little semicircle for the gusset in the fuse on the underside of the leg than it would be to widen the slot, not to mention the fact that the surgery will be invisible. FWIW, I hit a pot hole on the runway at site four at the Nats during practice and it jarred the airplane hard enough that it would have either broken the gear leg or mount, but I didn't have any damage whatsoever to my airplane. That's in and of itself just made the price of the gear worth it to me. Good luck with your choice!
