Default Futaba 9254 servo on elevator

Hey guys!

I am thinking of putting 9254 servos on the tail of my next pattern model like CPLR has done just to experiment. I am a bit worried though about any possible issues. Does anyone know of any? Like servo life and performance? Can they take 5.2V? etc.

Thanks guys!

I use 9254 on tail of my heli's which is what they were designed for.
speed is 0.06sec/60deg at 4.8V
torque is 3.4kg at 4.8V
they are rated at 4.8V only but I know guys use them at 5.1V regulated.

I've had no reliability issues (other than one which didn't like a boom strike) and the servo performs well but is 3.4kg enough torque for large elevator surfaces.

I have over 400 flights on my 2 meter Mantis flying the upper classes with the 9254 on the elevator. i love the setup. Lightning fast and ultra precise. I'm running mine at 6 volts with no problems. More than enough power, and no problems at all.

What sort of linkage did you use Archie?

I'm running one servo with the DEPS pushrod system. Works great. No slop, very free. A setup I'm very happy with.
