Hi there First of i would like thank you for taking time to read this and i would like to hear your opnioin about a stupid question ,
Im looking for plane #3 I want it to be a pattern ship and for it track like its on rails were if i put it a a 45 i want it to stay there.... My dad wants to build a kit so may aswelll kill 2 birds (no pun intended) with one rock. It will be our first kit so it needs to be resonibly easy to build.
I am in no way planning on putting a YS in this thing maybe an OS or a SAITO i dont have the motor so i dont have to build around a certain size but i would like it to be about 60 or so inch wingspan prefarably a tail dragger. I will soon be getting a computerized radio so number of servos is a non issue
please suggest.
Thank you, Steven

In that size range, the Widebody 60 or Epsilon is about it.
Realize if you go that route that both of them are "pattern/3D" planes, so you may want to down size the aileron length. The one I built I started the aileron cut outs at about 4 inches from the fuselage instead of right up against it.

Never had an Epsilon, but had a Widebody.
That's the one I shortened the ailerons on, and it was a very good pattern plane. It's only drawback was it's size. It flew like a modern 2 meter at the time until the wind kicked up, and then you could really feel how small the plane was in comparison.
But it flew great!

the engine is 4 stroke better then 2 stroke for this application what size do i go for what they say oor over power the hell out of it? Servos. what kind of servos should i put in this thing are there some that are more important then others (if i were to not have the money for digital servos allround what can run with an anaolog servos without impacting flight tooo much) im a patrtern nood i know nothign so please inform me

Engine: If you want a 2 stroke, the OS 120 is most likely the best bet. If you want a 4 stroke, a YS 110 is the way to go. It's personal preference, 2 or 4 stroke. If you're a beginner practicing you need reliability over performance edge. Therefore I'd have to say the OS because the YS will cause a lot of vibration. This is ok if you're used to it, but just realize it equals more maintenance on the airframe over the long run.
Servos: all you can afford. If you want a clean and true flying pattern plane, use servos with good centering and about 80+ inch/ozs of torque for everything except the rudder. use at least 150+ in ozs there.
I won't recommend exact servos, just look around. Don't skimp, or you'll hate life. Just my 2 cents worth.

I assume the servos should be digitals
Well the os 120 give me unlimitted vertical?

Digitals are best, but a really good quality coreless would be ok too.

Well i am planning on giving each servos its own channel if i do go forward with this project this allows me to electronicl adjust things
I also noticed it is a "split" elvator do i also need 2 servos for the elevator?

For the elevator you can use what is called a "DEPS"....dual elevator pushrod system. There is a nice DEPS package available from centralhobbies.com that comes with everything you need. Troy Newman has some great notes/articles on installing the DEPS properly as well, which I think are somewhere on Central's website. If you use the search function here on RCU you will find lots of threads with references and pictures of DEPS installations.
Good luck,
