I remember a design called the Malibu and thought it was designed by another pilot (Steve Wooton maybe?). Doesn't mean that Bill Cunningham didn't design a plane with the same name. I have a copy of the magazine and will let you know the source when I find it (going through the archives currently and thinning the collection).

The Malibu referred to was designed by Bill Cunningham about 12 years ago. It evolved from the Great Escape. The first version was actually .60 sized. He made it a bit larger for the original YS 1.20SF. It is small by today's standards and could be flown with a YS .91 or a Hanno Special. I don't believe plans were ever published, but maybe someboday has a set from the kit the you could scratch build from.
I haven't seen Bill Cunningham's name associated with any R/C events for a few years. Last I heard he was racing giant scale planes.
Good Luck! The Malibu is a nice flying plane!

Default Bill Cunningham

Bill's alive and well and still flies.... not doing the racing, but I wouldn't be too surprised if we see his name again in RC aerobatics one of these days. Bill owns a successful aircraft engine rebuilding business in the Tulsa area, and of course is still a very skilled RC pilot.

I'm always interested in hearing how the old names are doing. It was good for me to see Mike Mueller show up in a past post, so I thought I'd put in my 2cents here regarding Bill....

Just one of Bill's fans....
