Default Help me identify this YS Motor

Flew this motor for several seasons. Now it's time to sell it, but I want to properly identify it. The guy who sold it to me said it was a YS 140DZ, someone else said it was a YS 140L.

Can one of the experts here tell me what type it is and how you identified it?

thanks in advance

Default RE: Help me identify this YS Motor

the DZ called the Dingo will be the one with the pump on the front. and the fuel line going directly from the carb to the head of the engine.

the 140L or 140FZ will both be stamped with 140-FZ on the side of the mounting Lug.

The difference in the 140FZ, and 140L is mostly internal but the 140FZ doesn't have the big nub on the back of the carb for the YS motor mount. The 140L has a different Crank and gets more boost and power from its supercharger system than the 140FZ. The L also a slightly larger bore carb, and a few other little things.

There is a new version of this motor sold currently today and that is the 140FZ _Sport

The Sport is a 140L carb and all the other little mods but has the crank shaft that has less overall boost to the super charger.

The DZ is un-mistakable as it has direct injection fuel injection. If the fuel line goes from the carb up to the head of the engine is a Dingo (DZ). If it has the pump on the front rather than the regulator on the bottom of the engine then its a Dingo (DZ)

Just saw you photos they were not up at first when I looked.

That engine is a 140FZ

the 140L has a big nub on the back of the carb. Yours doesn't so its stamped on the side lug 140FZ

The DZ is a different animal from this engine.

Thanks all for the quick ID.

so now the second part of the question. I would consider that this engine is in good to excellent used condition. the guy i bought it from (pattern guy at our field) said that he had just got it back from YS Performance before he sold it to me. i put 20 flights on it (got help from the local pattern guys including Dave Snow for help on tuning) and then pulled it out of the plane.

What would be a fair price to list it here on RCU?? what does a new one cost (if they even make a "regular" FZ?

thanks in advance.
