Today we checked engine sounds and performance on the 40 ZDZF3A and a Evolution 26 -both in pattern birds using ES Composites cf pipes .
the RS Soundmeter measured over the hard salt at 3 meters distance per the picture - ran 94 db A scale typical
95 highest reading on either model .
The F3A ABBRA ( (?) has the 40 and the EXCESS the 26 Evolution-
weights are 10.25 on the ABBRA(?) and just over 10lbs on the EXCESS which is fibreglass fuselage and foam surfaces
both have unlimited fast vertical performance and vey quiet sound , during low power ( rolling maneuver ) in the air .
I did these tests as a number of guys asked me for them --so here they are
The bottom line - either setup -- all composite with gas engine --- or the foam and glass or even all wood (earlier model
will meet sound at full throttle (no cheating type setup ) .
I am not selling any of this equipment - so take it all for what you may .
also the EXCESS had the new Spektrum DX7 radio which is VERY accurate and worked with no problems .
here are some pics

The ES pipe is an excellent choice for the MVVS 26. I had one on a Black Magic pattern plane untill it meet an early demise. The new one will be flying soon hopefully this weekend. I was getting 8300 rpm with a PT models 18 x 8 carbon fiber prop.
