I have AFPD and Reflex. AFPD begin to be fairly old and I think Reflex is a better simulator. AFPD is the only simulator I have found that does have a good F3A plane (Smaragd). That is the rezone way I am still using AFPD when I am practice at the simulator.

I have test Phoenix, it is maybe good to practise 3D at but definitely not for pattern.

I saw that RealFlight G4 is coming. They have Venus II but it is not a full size F3A plane. Does it exist a good F3A plane to RealFlight G3,5 or G4?

What simulator do you think is the best one to practice pattern at and which plane are you using?

I have a highly costumized CAP 232 in my RealFlight G2 which I use for training. The model is based on the downloaded, from realflights homepage G2 swap page, model "2 meter CAP232" and it comes with a very good engine but rediculous aileron throws and way to much elevator. The rest is setup so it feels right, i.e servo speed, control throws, exp rate, balance, weight of wingpanels and so on ...Very exhaustive to do....I have recently purchased the G3 and there is somebody who has made a Pinnacle and even a Genesis you can download from the G3 swap page and they are very nice looking planes, but they feel totally unrealistic to fly or manouver around. All parameters have to be adjusted to give the same response and power feeling youd get flying the real thing. I'm keeping my G2 for this reason.
I have not flown other simulators, just on very rare occasions, so I only speak for the realflight and I would say yes, you can use this simulator for training. You'd have to learn to count the time in your head for which the plane "are flying in the sky" , because you loose ground view and you will miss placing the manouver correctly. This will take some time to learn. ( But then again: Mike Hailwood counted his way through the turns on Isle of Man because it was foggy, doing a 100 mph on his Ducati ).

i use the Realflight g3,5 and i have found on http://www.knifeedge.com/forums/downloads.php one Oxai Pinnacle and 2 CA Genesis.
You have to play some with them to get the trows like you want .
You will newer get the same on the simulator but its great to learn new programs and to get in the right stick movment fro feks rolling circels.

I have test the Osmose in AFPD and it is fling good. I will test the QQ bipe and the Beryll will be interesting to try in November.

Good to know that it is possible to download F3A planes to G3,5.

Both AFPD and real flight 3.5 have a pattern like field with runway lines in AFPD and cones and poles in G3.5 (downloadable from their swap page). I just started playing with real flight again to compare with AFPD. I used to think that AFPD was the hands down winner but now I am not too sure. The Pinnacle after adjusting throws and expo curves seems to fly pretty well. (Still pulls to the canopy in KE and downlines) I also like the way that you can change color schemes working with G3. I have not checked into how to change them in AFPD. I am in the middle of changing the Pinnacle in Real Flight to the current scheme that is available. (I have one). The Osmose and Euphoria will aslo need a bit of tweaking to get them to fly like a pattern plane. I haven't had a chance to play with them yet.

Was reading this topic with interest . Good to hear that you found the phoenix-sim good . Had to decide approx two weeks ago which way to go myself . Have been flying the AFPD to date but recently had a go at the Phoenix sim . Felt the Phoenix would be a better bet - the little I got to fly it on the hobbyshop machine. Waiting for my new pc ( old one could not handle the graphics of Phoenix) - should have it on Friday . Will be loading the Aliance to practice with ( my interest is only in F3A ).

As I am in the process of building an Osmose I contacted the guys at Phoenix and they were most friendly and reverted immediately . They advised that they would develop it if there was enough interest and if I could get some pics over to them - this I will do as soon as I can get to point a camera at a complete Osmose

Ohhhhhh . . . when will there be a decent Pattern plane on Reflex ???? [sm=cry_smile.gif]

Personally, I find Reflex XTR to offer the best 'dynamics' ! It feels closest to the "real deal" than any others I've tried.

Here is the finished color scheme.
I couldn't figure out how to change the color of the wheel pants.

Wheelpant color could be above those two colourpads between the undersides of the wings. Try to make same size pad above those dark grey and pink ones.

It wasn't there but I tried several locations and found it in between the top and bottom of the stabs.

How is Phoenix? The demo is only a video, but there are two sweet planes included.

I'm still belting the living daylights out of RF4 with the pinnacle.

Is that on an expansion pack? Can it be downloaded for free or something?
