Phoenix Pattern Contest

My Feedback: (1)
Myself and two buddies from Calgary (all of us FAI) are flying out Wednesday morning. We will probably hit the SVF field later Wednesday afternoon to get the snow off the planes LOL
I know that JAS is coming as well. So there should be a good crowd in FAI.

Jason posted this over on the F-G site, but I was going to scan the results in and post them both places. I saved the work load and just copied his pics of the results.
I know a bunch of you old codgers don't go over to the other site so I figured it would be good to let ya'll know what went on.
It was a great weekend of flying. Thanks to my lovely wife that brought the flu home on thursday...it was a difficult weekend for me. I have not had the flu in many years and 102 fever sitting at the flying field was a tough job. Maybe I should get sick more often...I might just fly better. SMILE
The good new is I feel much better today, but the voice is near gone. I hope I didn't pass along the bug to you guys.
The contest was a big success and thanks to the Northern crew from Calgary, and then Jason for coming out. The competition was tough and it was fun to fly F-09.
We flew it as a separate contest...one round on Saturday night after flying was done and before dark. Only those that wanted to play did. Turns out 4 of the 6 FAI pilots flew on Saturday...then on Sunday the other two guys voted to skip our 6th round and all 6 would fly it F-09 instead. Greg and Nedim had never even flown the sequence before and they did a respectable job. Greg commented that he wanted to get his new airplane done to go practice the F-09 for the next time we fly it.
Personally I know there is a huge debate about this flying F-09. I understand both sides of the issue. The way Rusty and I planned it out only those that wanted to did...turns out after watching the fun everybody wanted to. The rest of pilots watched and were amazed at the maneuvers. This practice of flying F-09 locally will do a couple things. It will better prepare those of us in the top 20 for the NATS and Team Selection events. The next thing it does is inspire the younger guys to improve their flying. In the case of this last weekend I think it inspired Greg one of the "older" guys to expand his flying skills too.
It was a good weekend.
I also have to congratulate Robert my buddy in Sportsman. He struggled a bit last year and this spring he has really done well actually winning a couple rounds in Sportsman. Overall a big success.
