WOW! Just hosted my very first pattern event this past weekend. Based on feedback from those in attendance the event was a huge success. Support from the Space City club members along with the 24 contestants and their cooperation exceeded my expectations. We got in 6 rounds total FAI flew 3 rounds of P-09 and F-09 each. Go to [link=http://pages.suddenlink.net/donramsey/]Don Ramsey's Pattern Site[/link] for a complete listing of results. For those not able to make it this year the Space City RC Club encourages you to mark your Calendar for the first weekend in May 2009.
Special thanks to:
John Underwood chef (BB ribs Saturday night were outstanding)

John Blackmon my personal scoring assistant

Great contest Glen and our hats off to the club for the use of their great facilities and even better food. Already looking forward to next year, but could you do something about the bugs?[)]

Actually, Glen had host jitters all weekend. No need - he had everything pre-planned and well prepared. Space City club has an outstanding field for pattern with excellent fly-over space and background, one of the best grass runways around, and enthusiastic club members handling details. They even hit the weather right - cool & dry with just enough wind to keep it interesing all weekend (been raining all day today - Monday). The challenge was to not break one's personal weight limit - half a chicken with trimmings for lunch Sat, then baby-back ribs for dinner, then burgers of sausage for lunch Sunday!
Competition was good (Intermediate was a real battle) and judges had no trouble handling F09 in F3A. Glen would have scores tabulated by the time one could refuel / change batts. An excellent event and definitely a "must make" for next year.
A big "thank-you" to the Space City Club and Glen!

It was a great experience. Had a lot of fun. Everyone is always so nice at pattern contests. I'm always looking forward to them. Competition in intermediate was pretty darn tuff. the top 3 pilots each won 2 or more rounds. I won 3 rounds which got me 1st but it definatly didn't come easy. I like competition though. Wouldn't be as far as I am now

Glen,
Sounds like a great contest. Wish I could've made it. Just had no time to fly since I got back in the country. Plus have a list of Honey-do's a mile long....I'm about 8' into that mile
Hoping to catch up and fly with you guys soon,
Arch
