zen or taiji?

I purchased a Tai-Ji last September. Taking great care in construction and setup. The initial flight was more than I had hoped for. It flew straight and true. The only trim needed was a slight adjustment on the elevator. Incidents, thrusts, and balances all seemed right on. I was nothing short of impressed with this airplane.
The 4th flight didn’t go so well. Pulling out of a loop, I lost elevator control. After desperately working the elevator, the plane decided to raise its nose just a few feet from terra ferma. Gaining altitude, I turned to make a landing when the nose dropped. This time I watched helplessly as the plane plunged into the ground.
Examination of the wreckage revealed the servo rails were inadequately attached. Evidence shows the elevator servo rail broke loose, rendering that control surface useless.
I emailed Airborne Models and advised them of what had happened. They asked that I send in the wreckage for evaluation. In the meantime I purchased a Zen 90. No sooner had the Zen arrived than I also received a new Tai-Ji.
In spite of the servo rail problem with the Tai-Ji, I was impressed with its overall quality. That is why I had no problem purchasing a Zen. That being said am making it a point to reinforce every glue joint I can reach.
I have nothing but accolades for the Airborne Models tech support. I was not expecting a replacement aircraft but was delighted to receive one.
To answer your question (finally), my limited experience with the Tai-ji has left me wanting more. I'm sure you would be pleased with it. I cannot comment on the Zen. I am in the process of readying it for flight.

When it is seen with the price vs performance, I think that ZEN90 and Taiji60 are wonderful. I like the airplane which put a YS91 engine on Taiji more than ZEN.
It flies easily because Taiji is lighter than ZEN and some habits are small.

I have been flying the ZEN90 with a YS120, Hatori flex header and Hatori Pipe. I use a 16x8 APC. Retracts are not original, competition retracts with trailing shims to keep the struts leaning forward, titanium struts and lite wheels. I use a 20 oz tank though I only fill 3/4 for a 10min flight. Use good servos.
I simply love that plane. Ballistic performance with excellent low speed characteristics, never drops a wing; flys straight as an arrow in any wind. Stunning axial rolls and knife edge without any mixing; at least I think no mixing as I fly the sticks even with a good radio.
