Check out our new Temptations

Subtract one from the NE fleet. She rests in peace in a field near Charlotte NC. One 2-mm screw that held the elevator clevice to the servo horn came out and made the plane into a V-2!
They all have an expiration date. This one came too soon :-(

May she rest in peace. We need to build in more redundency into our planes. A 2mm screw is the worst. Frank's maiden on his new pattern plane last season went in after 3 glorious minutes. He had a stripped screw on his adjustable stab and the thing shredded itself out. This sport can be bruttal at times. Mike

I'm not really absent - I have been extremely busy getting several articles out and even doing some flying. I also write some stuff for the new AMA beginners on-line web site. masportaviator.org Currently doing a review on a trainer using a 4-c. I also have the June season opener contest for NSRCA District-1 to plan and put together. I nearly forgot a judges-school and a possible second one before the July Nat's. Throw in a couple of 1200 mile contest forays. Add to that the rigors of planning the finances of next year or two and you can see that I really have not had a lot of time to hook up again with the NSRCA discussion list.
I do like this forum because you can post jpegs pictures and type a lot less words. RCU does not swamp my private e-mail box with chains of subjects that I don't want to read. With RCU I can pick what I want to read from a menu.
As a matter of fact I have always wanted a forum like this one for the NSRCA. Based upon ones that I moderated in my DEC days I had a pretty good idea of what was needed. The NSRCA discussion list has poor functionailty when you compare it with the RCU service.

Eric,
Hmmmm. Some interesting points you have raised. . . .
Personally, I feel the NSRCA discussion list ebbs and flows and I tend to join and leave accordingly, sometimes for up to a month at a time. It does lack the functionality and selectability that you have here on RCU. But I´m glad it´s there and I´m glad there are new members coming in. RCU has a sort of self selection thing, by topic, that I also find interesting. You get to know who is contributing on a given topic thread and the volume of jpeg postings is really impresive. (Enough to fill the K-Factor for months!!) Plus there is a nice international mix and feel that I find refreshing.

Pretty good. The plane is a 2003 version. The 8 new ones that were built this year have some new mods. Like a shorter wing and the different rudder size and post slant and a different wing position. I'm still flying the 2003 version also which flys fine in my opinion. Mike

I had both versions (RIP #2) and had to go back to my original (Which was about the 2nd or 3rd one built). Only real mod was to cut off the counter balance on the rudder.
The new one felt better but it only took a few moments to get back in sync with the old one. I am currently wrestling with the deison between competing with the new Focus-2 (They are basically made of Temptation wings and stabs, with a wooden fuselage), OR using my old one.
Such is life, Always on the horns of a dilemma!

I noticed on the Peidmont site that they are blowing out the Temptation basic kits with a low price. From what I've heard from my friends and read in this thread this is a great flying plane. Is there any concern if I would buy one of these? Anybody build one of these from the basic kit?

Mike, I just wanted to say thanks again on behalf of myself and the other Omaha guys for the invite to come fly at your contest. We all had a great time and will probably be back next year. Please tell the rest of the fliers we send our best, and look forward to seeing some of you in Omaha in August!!!!
