2008 US Nationals... share your story
It’s that time again for the US Nationals. Even though they are 2 weeks away, what better time to start up a thread. I’ll be heading up to Andrew’s for some more practice in the next day. After a week up there, I’ll be off to Muncie to get ready for the contest.
Here are a few pics of the Central Florida crew getting ready for the Nats. We had a 4-day weekend of flying, and there was a lot of it. Here are some shots of last minute motor swaps, time down between flights, clouds from the incoming rain and some of the planes. As it turns out, most of these Integrals are also for sale at the conclusion of the Nats .
What are all of your stories getting ready for the Nats? Lets here about them...

Joe, thats crazy... did you fly near it to see how the plane handled Muncie style wind
This was our Sunday night home drive. Sorry about the shakes but it looks like it was less than when I fly.

Jason,
It's actually about 15 miles away from the field. We had a good view of the back side of the storm. Very weak tornados compared to what we had earlier this year.

2008 Futaba Flight Achievement Award
“2008 Futaba Flight Achievement Award” Will be awarded to the pilot who earns the highest "raw" score versus the potential maximum score and is open to any 2008 AMA Pattern NATS pilot, competing in Intermediate, Advanced, Masters and F3A. The “Champion” is determined by non-normalized, combined judging panel totals of individual Pilot flight scores from preliminary and Semi-Final "Complete and Official" rounds, as determined by the Contest Director. (Masters and F3A Finals will not be included)
The 2007 winner was Glen Watson, who coincidentally, was the 2007 Masters Champion.

Just wanted to wish everyone good luck this year at the NATS. Unfortunately I wont be there this year for the first time in 7 years. Will definitely miss it.

Dang... taking me to school again. Wasn't showing me up the first time enough...LOL. I'll make sure to practice all day while you're at work, at least then it won't be as bad. See ya in about 36 hours.

All packed, for 4! Only things I didn't pack were the kitchen sink and whatever I forgot.

Did I see a jug of fuel, or, that's cooking oil? ...

Jason 5 Integrals??? Are all of them yours? What is the purpose of all 5, during practice?

RE: 2008 US Nationals
Arch/Jeff, we'll all miss you guys this year, but thank you for all your hard work, and see you next year.
Here's a few more pics before heading out to practice with Andrew.
Drive up was uneventful for the most part. There was a 3-to-1 lane reduction on I-75 which turned out to be an over turned truck. Several heavy rain storms along the way. Typical Atlanta traffic at 4pm. My luck didn't run out either. The officer that probably could have had me (didn't realize it was 65, not the 75 I had been used to seeing) and coasting into the gas station to save 12+ cents a gallon of fuel (the "Beast" gets 14 mpg and has at least a 30 gallon tank).
