There were 21 pilots at the Jackson Primer in June. Probably the same amount or a few more will be there
in September. I have to say that the D1 guys are a great bunch so you will have an enjoyable time.
Plus you will get to some some excellent pilots.

"I've decided to still not go to Sayre. I've been rushing this hobby way too much. I was rushing to get this plane together, learn how to fly it, and compete with in in just over one week."
There's your answer. Take your time.
Although people get in and out of the hobby for various reasons, I think there are a lot of poeple who try to do too much too soon, buy too much, and completely obsess when they first start.
I can tell you for me, there are so many things I have yet to do in this hobby, that's why I stay in.
I don't fly pattern competitvely, but the idea of doing precise maneuvers appeals greatly to me.
Also, no matter who you are, when you crash, you get that sick feeling in your stomach and ask yourself "why am I even doing this?" Give it a few days to pass.
Remember NOTHING GOOD EVER CAME EASY!
