Wanted to post- Chris Moon and I will be providing a clinic the day before (19th of Sept) at the FARM club. We will assist with coaching, setups, etc.
We have two sponsors aligned for the event- Executive Airframes and Flying Circus (Bealeton).
Thanks and see you,
Don

Hope you can make it. I am about an hour North of the FARM field in Bealeton, VA and it took me about 7:20 to get to the Lake City contest from my house so about 6:20 sounds good for you to get there. It is a great flying site.

Bill. what do you prefer? I was slanting toward just P. But we can also add unknowns to the classes as a provisional (non binding, non scored but judged) round for trial purposes. Pilots pick maneuvers Saturday for each class. Also toying with freestyle but that's probably more appropriate in conj with IMAC sequence contest.
Dave, bringing your son Fri? Joe wll be there and we can bring some toys, foamies, bow and arrows, or lawn darts, well maybe a toy truck at least. I've got your 3014- will pack it.
I went out to the Copperhead field last night at 6 PM, nobody there. Steve did not answer. Then went to Snow Camp but it was about dark. I just drove home 5 minutes ago. Maybe Dave will make it up to try out the Magic- we will make it a great contest.

Hey Don,
Oh it dosen't matter to me what the format is? You guys decide,.. I'll go along with just about anything!
An artistic F3A round might be kewl to showcase what some of these birds can do? I don't think the unknowns would go over very well for most people below Masters,...but who knows? I think the unknowns are a great learning tool,..humbling at times but a great tool for anyone wanting to learn and try something different.
I'm fine with it.

Don,
Christian won't be with me on Friday (school day) but I told him Joseph would be there so he says he wants to come- either Saturday or Sunday or both days (TBD).
Will you be there first thing on Friday for the coaching/setup stuff? I want to figure out my day and avoid traffic....

I plan to work half day and be there about 2 PM. Chris Moon should be there before. Several have asked for GPS coordinates and two asked for directions. I am checking on GPS coordinates. There is a flyer on the NSRCA website but here are the directions if needed.

From the South via Rt. 29: Rt. 29 north to Opal, right on Rt. 17 south towards Fredericksburg for approx. 8 miles (watch for Hugo’s Skating Rink on left), right on Savannah Branch Rd., 200 yds. to 1st right at Rhynalds Landing.

We tried AA a few years ago and it was well recieved but planes were not too optimized for 3D that flew. It was neat to see the pattern planes fly to music. There may be an opportunity for F3P foam event alternatively, if the new storage barn is not filled with hay. Weather looks good and Joe and I will have foam pattern planes there to test the air tomorrow evening.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Just to add to Don's directions, when you turn into the Rhynald's Landing property, please remember that it is private property and the Rhynald's live there so stay below 5mph. Pass to the right of the house and then go to the left of the hangar and the parking is behind the hangar. Hope to see everyone there!!!

Perfect weather and light to calm winds all weekend. Thanks to Don Szczur and Larry Kauffman for running an excellent contest. 6 rounds for 25 contestants and finished just after noon on Sunday!

Honorary judge, and competitor George Hill. He brought out some photos from the 1970. What a hotbed of pattern activity in the area. Everyone looked to be in their 20's and 30's. George flew very well and is back on the circuit.

Great contest, Don. I'll be back.
Christian and I went over to the flying circus for the barnstorming show after the contest on Sunday (Stearmans, Wacos, Fleet, Cub + an aerobatic routine by a real nice Giles 202). We went for a ride in this WACO. A great weekend! Christian had a huge grin on his face the whole flight!

Dave,
I'm glad you enjoyed it. We ended the contest early so the guys could go over and get rides and see the airshow and it worked out perfect.
A few words about the honorary judge (George Hill) that flew too. He thanks you for all your help getting him back in the air. His last contest was the East Coast Championships ...in 1977 and he won it. He was on board at the 77 Masters as the NSRCA president.... was pleasantly surprised to see the NSRCA still helping improve and help the AMA improve pattern.
At that time several NSRCA were AMA members in regional positions. He believed in bringing the AMA into NSRCA focus. He is proud of the fact NSRCA is alive and well. He will be 79 in November.
