Aeropet 50?
#1
I was thinking about the aeropet 50 from the world models.
It seems like a nice little pattern ship, and since I have all the servos and a 46 engine I"m considering it.
Do you guys know anything about this plane? Flown it, seen it etc?

A friend of mine flew and won with this in the Sportsman Class. He used an ASP .70 FS. Really flies well but is kind of hard to see sometimes due to its white and yellow color combo. It's a good plane to start with pattern.

I have a Spot On 50 and the undercarriage would get off very easily. This is due to the ply wood used - it cracks with a hard landing. I had to rebuildt mine and after that it could almost take any landings. But it looks awesome and a pretty good flyer too.

yes it is quite weak, i had a one wheel landing(lost a wheel midair) and it got caught in the grass.. One problem with it is that the lading gear is so stiff, it doesnt allow any flex

have the aeropet 50. Just finished with the assembly. very straight forward. Am using a 55ax in it. Running a 12x7 prop on it. Have flown it about 3 times since. Overall, a good flier.
From my limited retract experience, cant comment much about them. I have since taken them out after they collapse on 2 occassions. Turned out that the nut thats holding the retract torque rod needed lots of tightening, problem is also compounded due to the fact that I am flying off a grass field. Have since changed it to a fixed landing gear.
The only thing that bothers me a bit, which till this day, has not been resolved is the fuel tank position. In its original mounting position, its way too high up. Slightly more then 1 inch higher then the carb. There is no way to lower the fuel tank any lower either as the wing is in the way. This seems to be a problem the designers could not solve and simply pushed the product out into the market!
As a result, fuel siphoning leaks are a regular occurrence. The only option is to buy a flatter tank. Still looking around for it. So far, have not spotted anything I could really use.
So, if u are intending to get the Aeropet for urself, I would suggest not gluing the wing halves all the way in so as to enable the tank to be lowered.
