Default Used Venus II where are they?

I can never seem to find any Venus II and Great Planes/Tower has raised the price $100 over the last year...or even a NIB...are the planes falling out of favor or blowing up?

No. These planes fly so well that guys either keep them or fly them 'til they crash them. If they're repairable, they fix them and keep flying them.

They're that good.

I've got one down the basement that I am going to refurbish and recover this winter. I may well do a re-build thread.

Mine has served me well and still is. Out of the 3 contests I've been to I won all 3. 1 time as Sportsman and 2 times as Intermediate.

To be honest, paying 280 US$ for a good 90 size plane is not bad. Try scratch building a plane like that.... What should GP do? Child labour? To lower the price?

Think about how long it would take to kit build a Venus; definitely more than $280 worth of my time.

I don't think I'd get rid of my Venus as long as I had the space to keep it around.

A two piece wing would be a welcome change to the design.

Chuck, GaRCfield is right, the ones that are used are either well loved by their owners or in the bin.

Simple.

There's no cheap way to get into a 90 sized pattern plane, but for the money the venus is a damn good plane.

Are you kidding, I've had 3 Venus II's. Lost one in the trees, never found it, bought another and broke the fuse half in two, all due to pilot error. My third is still nib, and I'm smilin' every time I look at it...........remembering the old ones and looking forward to spring to put it in the air.........Sweet Plane.

I was looking for a Venus II and asking some questions here and I had a fellow contact me that had one for sale. It was NIB and I got it for $205.00 and he was nice enough to bring it to our local swap meet so I got one heck of a deal. They are out there, just keep an eye out in the classified ads every day.

Tower has their supersaver club which gives you discounts off the price of their products (VENUS II) in this case. Free shipping over $150 which applies here. Right now if you buy at least $250.00 worth of stuff you get $40.00 off. BUT, it is just like SAM's or COSTCO, you have to pay to play. I think a saver membership is up to $18/year now?? This lousy economy has really disrupted everything![:@]

The Venus II to club members right now is $269.97.

They had a membership special last week for $9...it may still be going on. With the super saver club you can double the discounts given on the front page right now and get free shipping for being in the super saver club (which is $9 so right there you paid for it).

Good till the end of the year. If your going to order anyway do it before the 1st and save some cash maybe.

I just ran it thru my shopping cart at Tower. With the Club discount and the bonus listed below it's $229.97 and that includes FREE regular shipping. So that's $229.97 delivered to your door.

$100.00 - $149.99 $15.00 016BA
$150.00 - $199.99 $25.00 016BC
$200.00 - $249.99 $30.00 016BD
$250.00 - $299.99 $40.00 016BE
$300.00 - $399.99 $50.00 016BF
$400.00 - $499.99 $65.00 016BG
$500.00 - $599.99 $80.00 016BH
$600.00 - $699.99 $100.00 016BJ
$700.00 - $799.99 $120.00 016BK
$800.00 - $899.99 $160.00 016BL
$900.00 - $999.99 $180.00 016BM

Reading this makes me think, why did Hobby People dump the Excelleron series? They were pretty good ships and reasonably priced, especially on sale.

Yup, forgot the Remedy 120; it was talked up as a real pattern plane, but there was some tweaking going on to get it right. Now it's a freestyle(?) ship.

I agree. For pattern, $280 for an airframe is dirt cheap!

Reference
I assumed they alread did.
I saw a film on China and the factories, the countries fenom growth, etc...and they are basically slave labor factories, labor camps...but...for a lot of those people, it was the best money they have ever made...most of the people are peasants from farm country and they thought 25 cents an hour is great and this is their first real opportunity to make a living. Long live slave labor! I think I'll order another ARF!!
