Default APC 18.1X11W

Hello,

Does the APC 18.1X11W exist as I'm having trouble finding it? On the Tower Hobbies web site http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&P=WR&I=LXRCJ5 the heading is for 18.1X11W but if you look at the data is clearly states that the prop is 10" pitch. Other web sites also have this apparent contradiction: https://www.toysonics.com/apc-18.1x1...-lp18110w.html

So what's the deal?

Thanks.

Hello,

Unfortunately that list is not complete. For example they do not list the 18X11WPN or the 19X11.

Most of the time on new stuff call or email central. They respond quick.

They should have the props.

Otherwise, you can contact APC direct. I bought all of my WPNs from them.

Adrian,

Are you running the 18X11 WPN on your 1.70s? I talked to Richard at YS and he said the Japanese are using these and repitching them to closer to a 12 and they really like them. I've ordered 2, but haven't tried them yet,

Hi Arch,

Yes, I've been using them for the last 3 months. One of my team mate repitched them to 11.8 for me, and its a real nice prop, up line is near perfect. If you set your throttle curve correctly, you can feel the torque increases on every single click. However, I found the down line is still a little fast. I'm sending him a few more to have him try a slightly different pitch. I've tried the regular 18x11 WPN on the 170, not enough prop.

I contacted APC who informed me that they only do the 18.1x11 and 18x11WPN.

Adrian, how did you find the downline with the WPN compared to the 18.1x11? How did they compare load wise? Sounds like the WPN is a lighter load. If the Japs are repitching them closer to a 12 then why not just use the 18.1x12? Its ashame APC don't do an 18.5X11.

I didn't care much about the 18.1x11, it slows the plane down too much, and you have to throttle up much sooner like a 2 stroke. As mentioned before, the re-pitched WPN takes better advantage of the torque curve of the 170. As for down line, it could be my idling is too high - around 8,050 to 8,1500 - causing a slight fast down line. I'm going to dial it down to 1,950 to 2,000 and try again.

As for why they don't use the 18.1x12, I believe one of the reason is the shape of the WPN. Believe me, I have sent a few of those 18.1 props to Naruke before the 07 WC, he actually came out with a 17.7x11.7 for the 170, and I have been using them last year before I received the re-pitched WPNs.

Adrian
