I am an accomplished 3d pilot, but I am now looking to get into pattern flying. I decided I would try it on the cheaper side, to see if it's for me, and get the Venus 40. It will be powered with the O.S. .46. Other posts I've read claim it has more than enough power. I have yet to locate any information on what size prop and pitch works well with this combination. I already know about trial and error, so if this is such a common set up, can someone tell me what works?

A 12x5 or 11x6 would make a good starting point. Is this a 46 LA, FX, or AX?

I've been flying the V40 with a 46AX and a 12x5 prop. Has a lot of pull, but I feel like it's missing some speed, most noticeably on 45* uplines. I think an 11x6 would be better. I'm going to try a 55AX and a 12x7 and 12x8 because I'm spoiled.

Now you are talking. Jett with an 11x7 or 8 will give you all you need and on pipe, you can push it to a 9-10 pitch
