Default CMPro Scorpion 140

Finaly my Scorpion is ready for maiden flight tomorrow. Its powered by OS 140 and mostly Futaba digital servoes. To be a "China" ARF is rather expensive - its about USD 800 using todays exchange rate. The box contains only the aeroplane, covling, belly pan and landing gear in carbon. All other hardware has to be purchased.

I enclose some pic just to show how it looks like. The pics are from the assambling process and taken by cell phone.

Cool! I'll be flying on Sunday, wish I could be there today to see the maiden flight. Gotta stay at home with a sick kid today unfortunately

Then the maiden flight is done, just a minor trim on ailron and elevator was needed to fly it straight. It was great to have a plane with enought power and authority in rather windy conditions. Stall turns, rolls, loops, inverted and much more was done with ease.

But as for almost any China models the veneer used for fastning landing gear is rather "****". On the second landing it get broken and now the epoxy is herding and will be cured in an hour.

In my opinion the model is not able to handle some of the maneouvers in the P 09 programme but for both Sport 07 and Nordic 09 it will do great.

Looking forward to the season with a great plane and if i dont succeed with the competitions, its not the plane but the pilot[8D]

Now its 5100 gram, but i use a aluminium spinner from Protech and it weight about 94 gram which make it nose heavy and i have to put 80 gram in the tail to have a proper cg. Was looking at a 65mm spinner from DuBro and its weight is 46 gram, if i change it to Dubro i will save 48 gram in nose and could take away 80 gram in the tail and only there save 148 gram.

So with some thoughts about equipment it would be able to get it about 4850 gram i guess. But it flyes with almost unlimited power vertikal with todays weight. Im using OS 140 RX and Hatori (OS pipe) and 18x10 APC prop. I had set the pipe lenght 15 mm longer than the recomendet for max rpm. This gives more torque and definitely more silent engine.
