RE: hatch latches
A great, slop-free, no hazzle way is to simply bend a piano wire and lock it between two bolts using the tension in the wire... To my knowledge originally designed in the mid/late 70's by fellow pilot Tore Jemtegaard.
It is widely used here in Norway. Although not looking too slick, nor scoring high on "bling-bling" factor, it is bullet proof, easy and light!
Picture showing my "old" ZN Synergy, built by Knut Frantzen. (I've got the same belly-lock on my Oxalys and Sux..).

Looks like your selling a 95 cent Hobby city latch for $8! That's some markup!

RE: hatch latches
The red one from Hobby Lobby is perfect. Just the right amount of tension. I agree that the BVM is too hard to pull back. The Graupner brass barrel latch from Hobby Lobby is too easy and has caused me and some others to lose canopies. The red one is just right.

Yes your right Paul the Hobby Lobby ones are supposed to be good. I have the BVM's on my Integral and while I like them they are a little hard to pull back. Mike
