A new season will here sooner than we think. We will have the Polk Pattern Classic this year February 13th and 14th here in Lakeland FL. Practice will be on Friday the 12th all day and anyone wanting to come earlier are more than welcome. This year hotels should not be a problem because we are not competing with any other major events in our area. We will be flying all the AMA classes and FAI and food will be on site Saturday and Sunday for lunch. There is plenty of room for camping so feel free to bring what you want, but make sure you bring water and electricity. I will also provide a special code to get in the gate. Who is the host club for the contest and where is location the contest is being flown at? Some of our fliers may possibly want to make your event. We will be coming off the Silver Palm Pattern contest at AMPS Jan 15-17 in Miami.

The host club here is the Propbusters Club of Lakeland, FL. I will post below the co ordinance to our gate at our field.

Direction: I-4 exit 38 go north to first road on left. Turn left on Tomkow Rd and north to dead end. Gate is strait ahead accross intersection. It's very simple to find this place by just looking at Lakeland, FL on MSN or Google maps. You can see the field just north of the gate.

During this time of year we usually have north - south winds and they are usually mild. Bring your camper and I'm sure you all will have a ball.

For anyone needing to locate the field here are the GPS co ordinance to our front gate. 28.157392,-81.897218

Directions are: I-4 exit 38, go north on hwy 33 about 1/4 mile to Tomkow Rd. (first left). Go north on Tomkow Rd to the dead end and the gate is directly across the intersection.

These are all off of I-4 between 2 and 4 miles from the field.
There are also plenty of eating establishments at both of these exits.
There are some others hotels / motels at both of these exits but their rates are higher in price. I found these doing the yahoo travel thing.

I'm looking forward to this contest... I missed Miami' due to a nasty four letter word called 'work'( but grateful for it).. I was a spectator last year at the Polk Pattern event.Was hanging with my friends that entered it.. and recently have been influenced to join the 'Dark Side'... Pattern...

I agree with the other post a little concerned about the wind from last year... Larry, What do we have to do? call the tower and ask them to turn the wind down? Sacrafice a virgin to the weather gods? wait, I dont think there are any in Polk County

Seriously.. Larry, I thought you did a superb job of the(first) Pattern event last year. I wish for continued success... And I will be joining the rest of the crew there this year...
