Since the winter up here never seems to end ( "a man has to do what a man has to do......") I ended up flying at -10C. Boy, that's cold! I can only respect our friends from the north! What a nightmare! I can only hope it will really be finished now in a few weeks.

Radio's etc. seem to work fine, you do have to watch your batteries though.

Great to see you guys alive, doing some serious flying .

Been flying smaller e-pattern, kept it down to -7 ,-8 celsius or so ... too cold on the fingers

Plan to use a 2m later, still too much snow...

Batteries!? no problem, they work just fine, just a little down on power/duration, but plenty for FAI without restriction if use of "normal-sized" batteries. My suit is filled with batteries, before and after flight`s, perfect for heating in our cold climate.

In Michigan we regularily fly when the temp. is 10f. or -10c. The wind is abigger problem as the air is more dense and a little cold wind is more like a 20knot summer wind. We squirt lighter fluid into the 2 cycle engine's carb to get them started. Another limiting factor is cold thumbs. God Florida is great.
