i just replaced my regular struts in my Ariel with titanium and they seem real weak. They both sag forward quite a bit when i put the plane on the ground. There's not much prop clearance anyway, and i don't think they'll work. Is this a problem with switching to the titanium. Any info is appreciated.

They are no good if you fly of grass. They dont tolerate being straightened after each landing which is a usual ritual flying of grass. They eventually work harden and break without notice.

Titanium struts are the best choice there is I think. The trick is that you most probably need to have struts with thicker wire compared to steel struts. Titanium is a far lighter material and doesn't need to be straightened even after a bit rough landing if the length compared to thickness is correct and you have the spring loop correctly designed. I use the Central Hobbies 3/16" titanium struts on my Typhoon 2+2 (4,9kg) and the struts work perfectly even on grass field.

i agree that the titanium struts are harder and don't need bending. The only problem i guess i have is that I have them on an Ariel. And the original retracts and cutouts are designed for what makes a very low plane. Even with a 15/12w prop. It's just that when I place it down on the pavement the struts sag and lower the plane even more. Well I guess I'll stick with the original ones. Thanks for the help though.
