Ok you wanted opinions...
can't say I've ever flown the quest, but the synergy is one of the nicest flying planes I've ever owned. On high rates it has awesome 3d performance but if you put the rates down a bit it is a super-smooth F3A flyer, the best 90 size artf pattern model I've flown. Which is what you'd expect from a plane with this pedigree! It really does fly like the 2m models although inevitably suffers in non-ideal conditions from being smaller. But then, so do all of them...
One thing to bear i mind is the surfaces are really colossal, so you will need to make sure you have some very strong servos or I can see you could suffer from flutter. Any of the "standard" size digitals would do just fine though.
I would thoroughly recommend the Synergy. On top of all of this, the construction quality is literally the best I've ever seen in an ARFT. Again, what you'd expect from ZN.

I don't think the 120 would be the best engine for the synergy. The power with the 110 is quite awesome, and it would still be exceptional with the 91 I think.
I think the extra weight of the 120 would be very detrimental to the plane, and you'd also have to put weight in the tail as it would be too nose heavy otherwise. It doesn't need the extra power either so I would be hesitant to use the 120.

It is simply too heavy for the front end on the yYnergy. Will it work? Yes. However, it will not be good for you will need to place lots of weight on the tail and the airplane will lose it's great slow flying capabilities. The 110 is making the same power as the 120NC and about 95% the power of the 120FZ. It yanks the Syn90 around like a yo-yo and is an awesome motor once broken in and final tuned.
For the 120, the Goldberg Ultimate is a great airplane...just an idea. Of course, the 110 is even better because the power to weight ration goes up when saving 10% weight. The 120 is almost a redundency...almost, but not quite. It still has it's place for pattern airplanes in the 72" catagory.
