Hi Guys,
Woundering if you can help out here.
I have a MK Topstar 110 with a YS110 mounted on a Hyde soft mount with a nose ring.
I've broken 2 flexi header pipes recently within 10 flights. I was told I had the MK flexi pipe support too tight on the rubber mount, therefore not allowing the pipe to move side to side as the engine rocks.
Having slackened the MK flexi pipe support off, the tuned pipe is pushed by the engine to one side of the tuned pipe tunnel under the wing ( as shown in the picture )
So far, the flexi header hasn't broken like this, although it's starting to wear away the side of the pipe tunnel. I see other models with the MK flexi pipe support mounted verticle as apose to like I have it on its side. I'd like to keep the tuned pipe in the centre of the wing and not have a header break. Is this possiable ?
I appreciate anyones help.
Mike.

Hi Mike,
I think you answered your own question by loosening the header support. Where is the header breaking? I'm guessing just in front of the support? You might consider a different type of support which allows more 360 degree movement.
How do you like the Topstar 110? I have a kit with the all balsa, built-up wing (still in the box). How does it perform with the YS 110?
Regards,
Will B.
PS Your Model looks very nice - what I can see!

Hi Will,
I will keep the pipe setup as it is, and add two peices of thick silicone to either side of the tuned pipe to stop it from banging against the side of the pipe wing tunnel.
The Topstar was a great kit, like all MK kits, its well manufractured. This model uses the foam wings / tail & rudder. It flys very well. The finish is Profilm wings, glassed fuselage tail rudder, painted with basecote paints and 2k clearcote.

Hi Mike,
Here is my set up on the Top Star 110 (mine is actually the older Sky Star kit).
I turned the rubber mount through 90 degrees. No problems with broken headers.
I had another set up on a MK 3D Dancer, broke the header every flight.
Eventually solved by moving the bracket nearer the motor by a couple of inches.
It seems like a process of trial & error.
Once again it is such a shame these kits are disappearing! This is such a smooth flyer.
John.
