I got one flight in between wind gusts this morning. 3S 2200mah pack, and I will have to wait and see what I put back into it tonight.

The CG will need moved back a bit.

The wheel pants broke in the grass on landing so they will be going bye bye unless I find a good way to mod them for durability.

Other than that I think I found a nice little plane to keep in my car for quick flights when I have no time to get all my pattern stuff together and 3S packs will allow me to use the same pack in my help and my son's trainer.

You couldn't video the flight at the same time you were flying? I'm disappointed, flight reports without video are useless. Just kidding. Glad to see you flying something,

Pete, I've been flying my similarly sized little Vanquish on 4S 2350's. Dave is flying a MKI Vanquish on 3S and 4S is noticeably better.

Hi Nickolay, sorry to have to tell you but, the Monolog 1200mm plane you mentioned above is the 3D version, not the F3A pattern version Chris Moon sells at F3A Unlimited. There is a difference between the two in the size of the ailerons and elevators (smaller) not to speak of the new canopy forward design along with a major change in the graphics of the newer, updated, F3A version. Also, you might consider the additional cost of shipping involved from Hong Kong. To give you an idea, if you feel you need to have ANYTHING from HobbyKing expedited (via EMS Express Shipping) you are going to pay 2-3 times as much in costs and will get the merchandise only 3 days sooner! I just finished reading all the glowing reviews and comments found here ( http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...00mm_ARF_.html ) on the thread on Hobby King's website for the product they are selling. Having not flown this airframe I really am not able to comment on how it would perform - however the control surfaces seem to not be sized for pattern/precision. I have a real 110 Monolog that is quite wonderful.

For a beginner on a budget it might not be too bad.

I purchased 1 of the Nitroplanes Monolog and received a version B ? The outer and innder box was marked up all over with a magic marker hiding something? They had a free shipping promotion back in July and that saved me $30+. It seems nice for the money but if maybe fall before I mess with it as I don't know if the motor will over heat when it is 95 degree's outside.

Even though "дареному коню в зубы не смотрят" ("never look the gift horse in the mouth"), I must say this ARF is a piece of cr@p. Whoever designed this knock-off, had no clue about engineering...

Any way, I gotta make it fly and not fall apart at the first landing. :) I peeled the covering of the nose and completely rebuilt the front half of the fuselage. Have to keep myself from rebuilding everything, which is especially hard for the tail feather. The horizontal stab will certainly fold under load--it's a thin plank of soft balsa. I peeled off the covering and discovered a piece of lite ply (which is supposed to reinforce the stab?):

CF reinforcement added only 0.3 g to the 24 g stab, that's about 1% of the weight resulting in 10x strength increase!

Maidened it this morning!
 

Finished the plane late last night and maidened it this morning with my sweet wife serving as a lucky charm. :)

The plane with EM Twister 19/40 motor, APC 14x8.5 prop (we are at mile high elevation here in Colorado), Turnigy Nano 2200 3S 45C battery, and CC Pheonix 60 ESC flew amazingly well! I've installed MileHighWings wattmeter to record voltage and current in flight: 600W at take off, then the prop unloaded and full power dropped to 550W, while most of the flight was only 200W. The 2200 battery lost only about 800 mAh after a 5 minute flight. AUW is about 1270g (2 lb 13 oz).
