Looking for a 60 sized pattern
 

I did some searching and really couldn't find what i was looking for, so i thought you all would be able to help out.

I want a 60 sized pattern plane, or even a sport, I have an OS61FX, and maybe a tuned pipe later on down the road if it's needed. I would like a trike with retracts, but i would settle for a tail dragger with retracts. As most ARF's today are of good quality i'm not picky about manufacture, and price isn't to big of a concern. Main attributes i am looking for is speed and handling. It's gota roll on a wire, high roll rate is nice also.

I have a SIG King Kobra that i flew almost 2 gallons thru today and had a mishap on a touch N' go "dam those sweat bee's" I liked the way the Kobra flys, it's not as fast as i thought it would be, and didn't have allot of vertical performance, but the only problem i had was when using allot of elevator it would snap out.

If posible links to the manufactures site would really be appriciated.

If you like speed and the feeling of it being on rails.... look at the MK kits. They offer a few of the older-go fast-pattern planes such as the Curare and Magic. Singapore hobbies offers them.

How about a RTF Curare with glass fuse, spring air retracts, Rossi .61 with muffler and pipe. Ask around it is one of the finest Pattern Ships ever. I have one that I am interested in selling.

Firstly, it sounds to me like you don't really want a pattern plane at all. A good pattern ship for F3A shouldn't have retracts. If the plane doesn't have SOME drag then it will gather too much speed in the down lines. A good pattern plane has a fairly long tail moment and should only have enough elevator throw to complete the manouvers. If the throw is excessive in any of the three planes (pitch, roll, yaw) then it becomes more difficult to level in regard to entry lines and also lends itself to overcorrection which tends to exascerbate itself. A good pattern is flown smoothly, accurately and smartly. This doesn't mean fast manouveres or rushed manouveres. There should not be so much throw that the plane will snap. 60 size aircraft are inherently more unstable than a true pattern plane due to the lower mass and Reynolds numbers. They shouldn't really be called pattern planes in relation to the modern schedules as they will not fly like a full size pattern craft.

A good pattern plane needs loads of power, but not speed necessarily. They need plenty of rudder throw and servos that centre accurately, but they should not be expected to fly 3d or IMAC manouveres when trimmed and setup for pattern. I pattern plane can't do a Lomjevak. That's 3d.

Consider a Tiger 60. It doesn't look pattern, but it will fly it well as a PRACTICE plane. Extra's and the like are scale planes. Pattern planes are specially designed craft specifically for rc aerobatics. If they were full size, they probably wouldn't be feasible.

The question is do you want to fly Pattern which is about precision or do you want to fly 3D which is about expression?
