BN Models Impulse. OFF THE SCALE!

Gentlemen. I have just unpacked my BN Models Impulse and what can I say, The quality is simply off the scale. The fit and finish is to a standard that you can't believe.
The wing and tail fit against the body... You cant even slide a piece of paper between the two!!! It's an orgy of carbon fiber/honey comb... all the formers, fire wall, nose ring mounts servo mounts are all carbon... non of this ply wood nonsense you get with the other players. Even the fantastic balsa/foam wings have small carbon servo mounts built in... this has been asembled by a man possest!!!!! Every piece is included and fitted, cabon tubes, wing and tail adjuster, Hyde mount, CNC Nose ring, HOLY MOSES I'm about to faint... even the removable cowl, pipe tunnel and top hatch has the small retaining pins and hidden screws fitted... holy crap, they're built so accurately, they click into place...Drop your pants and bend over ZN line, Peidmont , I've never seen anything like this! I'll post pictures tomorrow.
The cost of this? 999 euros including shipping!
Wecome to Europe Turkey!

I agree to you. It is absolutaly beatiful. The hole kit complete with all accesories, carbon wing tubes, pushrods, even a carbon spinner and so many things ı can not count. I feeled the same things about Znline when ı had inspected a pair of Lazulite's in one of my friends. The price is also unbelievable with all these things coming with the kit. The precision of the molds is second to none. It is absolutely stunning.

I believe Bnmodels will be the new leader in the F3a class.

You will agree with me as soon the kits will ship to US.

Wing fit detail, remember this is straight out of the box with no fitting or finishing... it's perfect.

How about the panel fit? Remember nothing is held together with screws here... again, you could hardly pass a sheet of paper through the gap.

Some details... how much work do you need to make a nose ring mount, servo trays & tiny carbon servo mounts built into the wing?
By the way, the servo well in the wing is lined with ply wood at the ends and balsa at the sides... the carbon mounts are recessed into the sides. Enough work to keep the most A' retentive customer satisfied.

Does it all go together straight? You betcha!
I just slotted on the wings and stab... (they're not bolted in place, nothing has been sanded and nothing adjusted) and stood back.
I asked Baris about the enlinement and he said they machine cut everything in the moulds/ and the gig up for final fitting... he said it's impossible to do it any more accurate. He's right.

As you can see, this isn't a small airplane. The access through the top is excellent, the best I've seen. The hatch extends from the firewall almost to the eng of the pipe tunnel.
Thats a 580cc(20oz) tetra tank to give you some scale. The body is 18cm (7in) across at the widest point.

The hatch on the underside are also massive. An OS 1.40 is totally lost when placed in the engine bay.
With the cowl and the pipe tude removed, the flat underside is the datum line. Should make set up rather a pleasant experience for a change.
The nose ring and fire wall have the trust angles gigged in during the construction phase and are prill drilled for the mount/engine combination.
I'll fit the engine this weekend, I'll be very surprized if it isn't 100% spot on accurate.

Some nice shots of the stab showing excellent fit and finish. Each stab half is side sensitive, on the 3rd pic you can see how it's been shaped to fit the contured shape of the tail section. The fit from the underside is just like the top.

Hi,

Does the undercarriage of that plane, have enought dimensions ( essencially height ) to mount an electric motor on it?. For example hacker C50-14XL+6,7:1,with an APC 22x12" propeller?

Hi oscar (post 21)
Which problems have you with the Dingo ?
Because I have a 140 Dingo on my Rhapsody (80 flights) and I also had a problem with the motor. It was difficult to start it and the power decreased.
The cause was the rotative valve on the rear of the motor which was rough.
I polished it to do the surface smooth and tightened it hard to obtain a good proofness.
The cause was the dust which was inhaled. The solution is to put a filter (tettra DX is good for this motor).

RE: BN Models Impulse. OFF THE SCALE!

With the standard gear it measured 9.5 inches. Add 1 inch for the wheels and get 10.5in ground clearence. E-gear would give you a larger clearence of course.

Because the GrevePipe I'm planning on using is so long, I had to make a modification to the underside of the body at the end of the pipe.
It almost made me cry to have to cut-up this airplane but Ijust followed the instructions from Ole Fremming excellent web site and all went well.
Make a balsa plug, cover it with film and shape some class cloth over the top.
The finished quality of the surface that was against the film is quite remarkable. Very smooth.

Some close-ups. Looks just fine.
The odd thing is that the part I made felt lighter than the part I removed!
I didn't weight the fiber glass piece but in the hand you could almost feel nothing.
It's stuck in with a little epoxy and a great deal of ballons.

What happens when you install your engine mount using the holes pre drilled by a Turkish engineer?
Everything lines up very nicely indeed.

Keep the post coming... well thanks but thats about it, there isn't really anything else to tell you. All thats left to do now is film the wings and spray some colors on the body... screw in the servos and go flying.
So far, having this airplane has been a very pleasant experience. The quality, fit and finish are simply 5 star. The hardware package is again top notch, with real quality/pro stuff. The only parts I will not be using are the control horns... I just like MK, period.

The question that remains to be answered is whether BN can keep up this amazing, handcrafted quality when it starts mass producing for the big US market?

Yes sure, but don't hold your breath... I'm a wizard with film and a heat gun but spray painting isn't my thing at all. Don't even own any equipment! This is something I'll have to rectify before painting commences. Last time I asked somebody to spray an airplane for me they added over 800g!!!! It was a hell of a finish though! Heavy, but you sure could see your face in it.

I am thinking of getting an impulse but have not seen any flight reports yet. Has anyone flown their impulse? How do they compare with the other top of the line planes out there? Anyone use the impilse in the worlds? Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.
